Saw another amazing preformance by TMBG last night at the 9:30 club in D.C. (
which has been recently remodled at a new location to accomodate 1,000
listeners, with more than enough space to move about) They played
many from JH but also played many I'd never heard in concert before --
cowtown, santa's beard, j.k.polk, hey/replacements, and a slow version of
hotel detective. They covered, briefly, fleetwood mac's "go you're own
way" (I think thats the title) which was funny. I was glad they dabbled in
some of their older songs and felt they could add to the obligitory "don't
let's start/ana ng" set they usually throw out from their bar/none record
days.
Somebody mentioned before the concert last night that tmbg is only making
money from t-shirt sales because they haven't earned back their advance yet.
I don't follow record sales, but that seems far fetched to me. could the
johns be broke? Can anybody shed some light on this?
Anyway, it was a spectacular show. They certainly haven't lost their touch.
David.
