Let me start by saying Metropol may be the worst place to see a band in
this hemisphere. More than 50% of the "Seats" are obstructed. The
acoustics made the lyrics and any between song comments by the band
unintelligible. I saw TMBG at the Agora Theatre in Cleveland and the
difference in sound quality was staggering. Any bands or tour managers out
there, please try to book one of the other fine venues available here in
Pittsburgh.
Despite these obstacles, it was a great show.
I missed Frank Black as an opening act, as Ivy trudged through their
material, a cross polination between the Cranberries and 10,000 Maniacs.
TMBG played for two hours or so, and both of the G's appeared to be having
a great time. I apologize for not having the song list, but rest assured
it was quite comprehensive. I actually tried to snag the set list from the
sound guy but he gave it to some little kid.
All in all, the Cleveland show was better, but the difference was the
venue and Frank Black, not anything the giants did or didn't do.
Consider me another satified customer.
There are seats???

I spent half the show on the steps looking between two people's
heads. You're not kidding when you say Metropol's a shit-hole.
Graffiti's is a bit better... smaller but wider and better views
all-round.
Of course there was that wonderful Pittsburgh concert phenomina
(phenomonamonnommana?) 'lets crush everyone.' Yay! What fun! An
attempt was make at cold-fusion by squeezing everyone into the stage
despite John's telling everyone to step back.
The attempt at a conga-line was fun... 'cept mine slammed into a speaker.
Floggo the Pkunk!
