The show rocked...the three hour wait for TMBG kinda sucked, but Common
Rotation and Corn Mo were great. TMBG definitely didn't play for very long,
only about an hour and 15 minutes, but they were still great. No Istanbul,
but they ended with "End Of The Tour" so that was nice. The bands were
really suffering because of the sickening heat in the place, and all of them
commented on it. (Linnell even told them to turn off the lights around him,
and Flans stood in front of a fan the whole time.) The band and audience
also suffered from the smallness of the place (no pun intended), and there
was really no where to move. Corn Mo, Common Rotation, Marty, and Dan
Miller all signed after, but the jackass security guards refused to let
anyone wait for Flansburgh, so everyone missed out... (And I thought the
jerks at Metropol were bad!)
The set list:
1 Mr Smalls Theatre (this sounds really familiar....)
2 Clap Your Hands
3 Spine
4 Human Resources
5 Experimental Film
6 Twisting
7 Wicked Little Critta
8 The Guitar
9 Birdhouse in your soul
10 Bastard wants to hit me
11 John Lee Supertaster
12 Dr. Worm
13 The Famous Polka
(Here, "DALLAS" was written on the set list??)
14 Particle Man with Corn Mo
("DALLAS" written again.)
15 Fingertips
16 I Palindrome I
17 The Spine Surfs Alone
18 Wearing A Raincoat
19 It's Kickin' In
20 Older
21 Damn Good Times
22 James K. Polk
The encores didn't stick with the order on the set list. I think they might
have been flipped. From what I can remember, they went like this
--Encore 1--
23 Violin
(The practice Wave ended up spotlighting some people in the balcony who
weren't supposed to be there, and who disappeared by the real Wave.)
24 New York City
(After this, the audience started chanting "PLEASE DON'T GO!")
--Encore 2--
25 Robot Parade
26 The End Of The Tour
I'm pretty sure Dan Miller recorded it. He'll let you have a copy for
only $9.99.

"like Flansy in a soda can"
He did, I saw him in the back with their recording setup fiddling with
is Mac laptop.
In addition, I'd like to say that they soundchecked "The Bells Are
Ringing" TWICE! They did not play it in the show. I asked Danny
afterward why they didnt play it, and he said it was probably because
Flans forgot to put it on the setlist. Grrrr.

They've soundchecked it as far back as Madison (July 7) and
Minneapolis too, but didn't play it then either. There's gotta
be some reason other than just "Flans forgot." I would have
loved to hear it.

Maybe they thought it'd be too many album enders if they did both that and
The End Of The Tour. (Which I thought they didn't like playing because it's
too much of a downer...what gives? Why are they bringing back fan favorites
all of a sudden?)
The Bells are Ringing.
Did ANYONE get to meet Flansburgh, or did you have to also face the "I'm
gonna call the cops" wrath of the little teenage security jerk? ("Jerk" is
appropriate - me and my parents were standing outside, and he told us "ain't
no band gonna come out", and I told him Flansburgh always comes out, and he
said "we call the cops on people hangin' around after!")
