The new DAS just about confirms the new album title, since the song being
played now is the title track. Enjoy.

A TMBG album with a title track???

Yeah, I think in all actuality this makes it less likely that this will
be the album title... and the song might not even be on there, remember
Insect Hospital.

It better be a good song at least....let's see...

*calls DAS*
*Mink Car starts playing*

I knew it was going to be a Flans song:)

It's pretty cool and it's definitely different.

What's this though? The album "might" be coming out September 15th
now? That ain't happening either as 9/15 is a Saturday...they are
obviously just shooting tentative release dates into the air, there is
no kind of set date, which means it could end up coming out later or
earlier than 9/15...

Let me check it out.

I like it. Maybe I should call with a real phone next time, though,
since the quality of DAS is low enough without introducing Dialpad into
the equation. <g>

Do you think maybe he made a mistake and meant August 15th like he's been
saying at all the shows up to this point?

It's possible, but they've also been saying Late Summer/Early Fall as
a release date and September 15th certainly fits in with that. (8/15
is certainly late summer as well but 9/15 is closer to early fall).

I say screw it all and release it on May 15th. At least that's
actually a Tuesday:)

Yes, one of the nuances of bistromath.

It's also about the 15th "new" song I've been exposed to off of their album.
Great way to preview stuff.

Yeah. As my good friend Crayon would say, "Dialpad is a f****r".

Wow. What a great birthday present, though one day early. Personally, I
would have set it back even farther and had it released on April 15th. That
way it would be out by now.

They have been previewing songs on DAS since before the first album,
that's nothing new.

True. I just wish they wouldn't do any more off of this upcoming album,
since most of it has already been exposed.

That's not unusual. After all, Flood had two of them. ;-)

Quite the opposite, actually. With the possible exception of the debut
album (if you consider "They Might Be Giants" the title of that album,
and don't consider it as having no title), there isn't a single TMBG
song title that matches ANY album title.

Think about it. There are no songs called "Lincoln," "Flood," "Apollo 18,"
"John Henry," "Factory Showroom," "Long Tall Weekend," "Miscellaneous T,"
or "Then."

So, it would stand to reason that there will never be an album called
"Mink Car," since there is now a song called "Mink Car." I may be wrong,
though.

But let's not forget "Theme from Flood" and "Severe Tire Damage Theme." So
it's still a dark horse contender for the title. It does look less likely
though, for which I am grateful.

Yeah, but there are some key differences with those.

1) They have the word "theme" in them. This isn't "Mink Car Theme."
2) They're both instrumentals.

DOH!

What the heck was I thinking?

But, in both songs, neither John sings. Yeah, that's what I meant.
That's it.

I'm still hoping the song will be on the album with the title "Unreliable

Even if the song isn't on the album, I don't think the album will be
called "Mink Car," because with the exception of "They Might Be Giants",
no album title has matched ANY song title from ANY other album (and if
you think of their first album as having no title, then "TMBG" doesn't
count).

I liked the idea of it being called "Yes," to counter "No."

What about "Maybe"? Then they could chain all three together and make the
first three words from Boss Of Me.

Exactly. Any non-John vocal is merely a really long sample. Which is why I
liked the techno flavor of O Do Not Forsake Me.
