I say it's Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me (I would say it's Wild Mood Swings,
but I only borrowed that from the library once, so it probably wouldn't be
fair).
So, what are the worst 2 Cure albums?

Yes, it would.

Wild Mood Swings and erm... Japanese Whispers, which isn't really an
album but nothing else they did is nearly as bad as those two...
excepting a couple songs each...
The Top
I'd choose
The Head on the door (too much 80's sound)
Three Imaginary Boys (This is not The Cure anyway)
>The Head on the door (too much 80's sound)
Yeah, but I like that 80s sound to it--they do it well.
I think Head on the Door is a very solid album...

The Head On The Door catauplted my descent into the catalog of the Cure.
After that I bought The Top and then rapidly began to fill the gaps.
Kiss Me was pretty good to listento in sections, but I never could get
into Wild Mood Swings.

The very first time I saw your face, I thought of a song and quickly
changed the tune. The very first time I touched your skin, I thought of
a story and rushed to reach the end too soon.----The Cure
just another john
I would have to agree with you on that. There are some really great songs on
Kiss MeX3, but as an album none of the songs really seem to flow together.
I think the problem is that there is so much to listen to, and some of the
songs don't really mesh well with the other songs,
But that's just my opinion. Idividually, the songs are great, but as a
whole, it doesn't seem to work for me.

The (Easy) Cure began in 1976 (well, '78 officially), so, what's wrong with
having the '80s sound? So, you want to tell us you don't like The Cure in the
80s? When they were at their very best? :-)

Ehm? What is it then? :-)
My vote for worst album(s): Mixed Up, Wild Mood Swings

"Wild Mood Swings" is incredible to me because so many of the songs can relate to
something that happened in my life just before it came out. And the something that
happened came about because of the Cure! (In fact, "Strange Attraction" tells the
story pretty well...I met someone online, but after we met in person...it fell
apart.) I wouldn't say it's my favorite, but it has a special place in my heart.
It's also the album that came out before I finally got to see the Cure live...
I could go on and on with each album...all of them having a purpose to me or to
"the larger world" <wink>. What's nice about the Cure though, is that it IS
possible for a diehard fan to HATE one of their albums...that just proves that they
don't do the same thing album after album...they are true innovators...
jennifer
I think it really has some great stuff on it, it's just probably too
long.
And is it me, or do all the songs on that album kinda blend together? I
guess it's cool in the sense that it goes along with the lush, foliage
jungle look of the album's art, but it just makes it that much more a
daunting listen, at 70+ minutes...

Now that's a question. I'd have to say Head On The Door (even though I love
In-Between Days and the non-sax part of A Night Like This.) To tell you the
truth, I think maybe the wording was wrong - I wouldn't classify any CD as
their "worst" but this is my least favorite, but it is a good CD.
For some reason, it's not the worse and I don't like it the least, but I can't
get into Faith. I mean, I love The Funeral Party, All Cats Are Grey, Faith,
and Primary, and sometimes I enjoy doubt, but as a whole, the CD doesn't do it
for me.
But I would have to say HOTD and Mixed Up are my candidates.
I love The Top, and I love KMKMKM, 'cept for Torture, Fight, Shiver and Shake,
and Hot Hot Hot!!!

:So, what are the worst 2 Cure albums?
I'd have to say Mixed Up (if you can count that as an album) and
Japanese Whispers. They're both listenable to me, so iI wouldn't say
they're "awful" per se. They're just bland and unimaginative. I listen
to them when I need background music.

I can sorta understand WMS, although I love it, butJapanese Whispers
is the closest thing to an "album" of their electronic era..well, JW
and The Walk EP...
Concept albums are supposed to sort of run together...
_WMS_ is uneven. There are some absolute gems mixed inwith stuff that's
not very good. I'd probably have to go with either _WMS_ or _Three
Imaginary Boys_ as my least favorite album.
deX!
_Mixed Up_ is brilliant, too, though. Particularly the dub remix of
"Pictures Of You" and William Orbit's Shiver Mix of "InBetween Days".
deX!
Didn't really know it was a "concept" album. What's the concept beyond
Robert's claim of "These are things I want to get out and never worry
about any more"?

It -was- the 80s tho!
>Three Imaginary Boys (This is not The Cure anyway)
Um... its not?
i'm kinda in agreeance with everyone who said The Top was their least
favorite. Personally i love about half of the songs on WMS, and i can listen
to Kiss Me on repeat for days...
But, its all opinion i suppose... <shrug>

Doesn't really qualify as a "concept" album, though. Maybe a "cohesive"
album, but I think an album requires more than a consistent feel to really
be a "concept" album...

(snipped)
Every one of their albums is a masterpiece. Everyone is different. That is
what makes The Cure such an awesome band!
That's right. In the immortal words of Primus, "It's just a matter of
opinion."
I have to say I've never heard a Cure song I didn't like.
The Top is fun.
Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me is one of my personal favorites.
Wild Mood Swings is wonderful.
Pornography suits my dark moods.
Disintegration is a nice 70+ minutes.
Mixed Up is fun the way they remixed a lot of my favorite songs.
BDC / 3IB is another of my personal faves.
And so on, and so forth...
well, somewhere in ten imaginary years or faith or somewhere, Roger (i
think) said that everyone came up with lots of songs for the album (as
usual) but everyone was aware that as good as their songs may have been,
robert would not let them on disintegration unless they fit into the mood of
the album. so i think the idea (or 'concept' if you want to call it that)
was the mood of the album - the ethereal melancholy helpless (depressing?)
sort of vibe going on...
certainly not the usual themes of sex and drugs :-)
r
Yeah, the B-sides were killer. I love the Red Mix of "Primary" and the
Milk Mix of "Let's Go To Bed".
