My name is Barry Morgan and I played in the group Brian Connell and the
Roundsound in the sixties. There is no connection whatsoever with Brian
Connolly of The Sweet.

A friend of Brian Connell's, who knew our band, bought a CD entitled
"Brian Connolly - 68 was 68" in Holland about 2 years ago in 2003; I
have this actual CD in my possession.

There were 8 songs on the CD plus a bonus track. The first 6 were
written and recorded by either Brian Connell or other members of the
band. I myself co-wrote "Just Another Wedding Day" ('A' side) with
Anthony Moore and still have an original 45rpm record and the sheet
music.

The six songs were our three releases plus the 'B' sides, one of which
I also co-wrote - Mr Porter. The other 2 songs, 'Everyday' and 'If Only
She Would' were written and recorded by Brian Connell without the
Roundsound.

If any track on the 'pirated' CD "68 was 68" is by Brian Connolly it
can only be the final bonus track 'Slow Motion'.

Whoever produced the CD may have made it from tapes but if he/she/they
used the actual 45rpm records, which is most probable, it would have
been clear for anyone to see that the artist was Brian Connell and the
Roundsound.

I believe that whoever produced "68 was 68" was cashing in on Brian
Connolly's fame under false pretenses.

Incidentally, most members of the Roundsound are still playing in
various groups and Brian Connell is still performing as Brian Connell
and the Runner Brothers.
