The Doors were in fact invited to Woodstock. They didn't want to do it
because they figured it was just another "Monterey pop festival."
It just goes to show how popular The Doors really are. Somehow though I have
always felt that they were considered to be shunned by alot of people. I saw
not long ago a cd of greatest hits from the 60's and LMF ( thats Light My Fire
for you non Doors' heads :) ) wasn't on it. Also when I was younger ( I am 24
by the way ) and started getting into 60's music I wondered how come The Doors
didn't play in Woodstock because I consider it the biggest concert in history.
Today I listened to the Miami concert and realized why. After Jim Morrison had
done all that shit that he did in Miami..... I can't say I agree with the
promoter or whoever organized the groups for Woodstock but I can understand why
they didn't want The Doors to play there. Well anyways thats what I think. It
would of been very interesting though if they had played at Woodstock. I wonder
what songs they would of played. LMF for sure.

The Doors were in fact never invited to Woodstock.
There's a rendition of The Crystal Ship in the bar scene in the
X-Files movie, though that's probably been mentioned. And don't forget
Apocalypse Now, which used The End to great effect.
Alice Dryden
Actually they were.
The band X (a band produced by Ray) actually did 2 different renditions of
The Crystal Ship for the X-Files movie. A slow version that sounds more like
the original which can be heard in that bar scene. And a faster punk version
that is on the soundtrack.
Ray made it sound like he was disappointed when The Doors weren't
invited to the Monterey Pop Fest. So, I think they (or at least Ray)
would have liked to have been there.

The Monterey Pop Festival was the real deal. It was the festival with the
great music, not Woodstock. Most of the musicians at Woodstock played awful
sets. One of the best wasn't even on the album or in the movie and that was
CCR.

Actually, you're an asshole. But then again, we established that long ago.
The Doors were never invited to Woodstock, regardless of whatever revisionist
history they're touting at any given moment.
Whatever Patricia. Quit trying to start trouble.
I heard Ray say the same thing in a Rockline(?) interview. He said something
to the effect of 'Not wanting to be involved with a hippie-love in, so the
band voted to decline the invitation.' In hindsight, he spoke of regret for
missing it.
I can't remember the exact date when it aired, but I re-call him also saying
something about JM being 'An alien who decided to check off of this planet.'
in the same interview.
You can see John in the background when Joe Cocker is singing.
mike.
Oh, brother!
Yeah I heard that Stone was going to make another film about The Doors.
He was going to call it "JDM". It involves all the plans and theories
behind the assassination attempt on Jim Morrison.

Also, the song People are Strange is used at the begining and end of
the vampire move "Lost boys," although this version is not performed
by the Doors.

Plus, I forgot to metion, a large mural-like poster of Jim is
displayed in the Vampire's cave in "Lost Boys."

I am not sure which song that is - I only have their '85 album, Big

There's a Dead Kennedys song (a punk rock group) called "Triumph of
the Swill," about the mediocre music that appeared in the early to mid
- 80s. The full verse goes:
"Ever wonder why commercial radio's so bad?
It’s 'cause someone upstairs wants it that way.
If the Doors or John Lennon were getting started now
The industry wouldn't sign 'em in a million years."
