Listen to the opening of "Peace Frog" and then the second(I believe, or first)
riff of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana. Sound familiar?

----later...

I've always thought that the opening of "Peace Frog" sounds
strangely familiar to the opening of a song by Jane's
Addiction. I think it is "Been Caught Stealing," but I'm not
sure. I still can't believe that the Kinks successfully sued
the Doors for copyright infringement on "Hello, I Love You."

Bullshit!, they're nothing like one another. Peace Frog has a much more "funky" edge to it than
Smells Like..., but maybe Jim'll try to punch Kurt out in musical heaven/hell, for stealing
Robby's rift. The only way that the two are alike is that the notes were played on a primitive
musical instrument, known as a gutiar.

In a previous article, c...@dcs.ed.ac.uk (Cerri Morgan) says:

I don't know about that, but the riff in the middle of "Take it as it Comes"
sounds amazingly like the beginning of "Lounge Act" by Nirvana.

I don't believe they ever did sue. Ray Manzarek acknowledged the
similarity in an interview I read a couple of years ago.

Hello I love you won't you tell me your name `68
Oh yeah all day and all of the night `65

Fits in rather neatly I think. Of course the similarity stops there.

Variations on this rumor have been going around for years, but as
far as I can determine, there is no truth to it. I was just
listening to a tape of an interview show with Ray and John where
they deny this, and I'm sure I've either heard or read an interview
with Ray Davies where he denies it too. Once this kind of story gets
started, it is next to impossible to kill.

Hmm. The Harmony Rock Encyclopedia states this story as if it were a fact,
but I guess that's inconclusive. I had always assumed it was true after
hearing the Lola vs. Powerman and the Money-go-round by the Kinks, which
contains a lot of really scathing lyrics about manipulation and theft in
the music industry.
