Some of you must have seen the adverts for Lloyds TSB on UK television
featuring
'The Corrs' singing What Can I Do, but with different words all about the
bank, like:

What can we do to help you feel good?
How can we help you live your life?

Now PLEASE someone tell me that it is just an impressionist singer
pretending to be Andrea Corr, and not the real thing!

The impression (if it is one) is VERY good and I'd be a bit annoyed if it
really was them advertising a bloody bank for God's sake! (You know, selling
out and all that)

Discuss!

this song sounds exactly like the Corrs as it is!
I wonder how much they got paid for that?

No it doesn't! There has been a lot of discussion on the Corrs List about
this, and although someone claims that they know it is the Corrs, personally
I don't believe it. It sounds nothing like Andrea.

lloyds paid for them to tour, so the corrs paid them back by doing them an
advert.

if you don't think it sounds like her, then you need to clean your ears out.

I haven't heard it myself so I can't say, but The Corrs would probably have
paid back by giving them the legal right to use one of their songs. I'm not
saying they didn't do it, because I suspect they did, but it was use of the
song that was the important thing.

I'm afraid it's you who needs some treatment on your ears! No-one I know
thinks that the advert sounds anything like AJC.

The Corrs did this for the TSB/Lloyds and all of the employees recieved
special Corrs CDs (limited to staff)

It is Andrea and the family - Lloyds sponsored their tour. As for selling
out,
I'm afraid it's a fact of life. Without sponsorship, they wouldn't have
toured
at all, or had to charge a lot more. I'd say it's time to enter the real
world where
tours are expensive and lose money, so sponsorship is essential.

Anyway, it's their bloody job, so why shouldn't they make money at it?

Well, if it isn't, how come they played the adverts at the Corrs' concerts
on the last UK tour.

I work for the Bank and they performed a special set at a Bank conference at
the NEC on 26th May which I was at - so it is them. And the CD's brilliant.

What relevance is that? They also played the French and Saunders song. Does
that mean that AJC sang that as well?
I'm not saying that the band didn't endorse the Lloyds song, just that it
doesn't sound anything like AJC. OK?

Yeah, well to tell you the truth, I'm not actually that bothered about them
"selling out", I just thought they were advertising a bank for no reason
apart from to make money, but considering they sponsored their tour,
well, then that's OK!

This is exactly the sort of thing that justifies all the criticism that this
NG gets on The List.
Sad really. I think I'll go back to where adults roam.

Yip it's them... No-one really needs proof... It's rather obvious if
you're a Corrs fan... There's no mistaking the Corr family vocals!!

I can't believe that this discussion is still going on! What does the Pepsi
ad have anything to do with this? We are talking about the Lloyds ad, the
Pepsi ad is irrelevant to the discussion Saad!
As far as it being 'rather obvious if you're a Corrs fan' is concerned -
rubbish! Many Corrs fans have debated this subject for quite some time now
both here and on the List. It is not 'obvious', otherwise we wouldn't be
here now. For what it's worth, I feel it is nothing like AJC unless she
was having a seriously bad voice day.

Oh - this is the thread where you said that it wasn't the corrs and everyone
else said it was.

I remember now! It's probably still going because you replied to it.

It sounds like her because it is her.

Talking about pepsi is related because they're both the sunject of The Corrs
promoting companies. I don't see what could be more 'related' to this
thread.

You're just crying because you were adament that you were right before
everyone agreed you were wrong!

No, it's the thread that some people say it is and some people say it isn't.
I accept that people have different views, why can't you my friend?
I don't actually care if it is them or not, my point (if it has to be
repeated again!) is that it is not obvious otherwise this discussion would
not be taking place here and in other forums.
