A friend had a list of The Corrs songs, and 'Song for Ireland' was on
the list. When I listened to it I thought it didn't sound like
Andrea, but possibly the sisters (thinking of No Frontiers by Sharon
and Caroline), but when I did some research on the net I found out
that this song was sung by someone else, but the Corrs had a song from
the Celtic Myst album. Can someone shed some light on this?

Thanks.

Aye, that would be Mary Black--who, coincidentally enough, was the one who wrote
"No Frontiers." She's pretty good, btw.

But personally I prefer the Dubliners' version of "Song for Ireland."

"Erin Shore."

Hope that helped.

I'm not familiar with "Celtic Myst" which I presume is a compilation CD
of Irish music. I do know probably the most famous version of "Song for
Ireland" was sung by Mary Black and know it's on one of her albums. I
have it but right now I'm too lazy to look for it. It may also be on a
Mary Black compilation CD also. It's also on a Dedannan (sp?) album I
have when she was in the band with Delores Keane. These two are amongst
the most popular Irish female vocalists in Ireland. Before you go off
looking for this album (good as it is), one of the criticisms was they
only sang about 3 songs on this album. Dedannan was primarily an
instrumental band. It was the same way in live gigs so I recall reading
a review where there was criticism for the lack of using all this vocal
"firepower" (critic's word) when it was available. Mary Black had the
original hit version of "No Frontiers" (album had the same name) and it
was also recorded by Jimmy McCarthy who wrote it. His album is harder
to find it's on Mulligan (an Irish label). One last tidbit, Jim Corr I
think was in a band with Delores Keane early on in his career (I read
that somewhere).

Cool. Thanks for all your response. Wow, So Mary Black sang 'No
Frontiers'. She's got a great voice too. Again, thanks!
