it just seems to me that a lot of 'abstract' art (e.g some of the
Surrealists, Jackson Pollock, Gerhard Richter...) has a very stripped-down
minimal feel to it but at the same time can be very emotional and engaging.
thats a *techno* vibe, aint it?
ps hey dudes chill out bout StarWars! planet earth could do with all the
help from the good-side of 'the force' it can get!!!
Theres a demo too.

There's a freeware program called Cthugha which does something like this. I
don't have a link to it, but it ought to possible to track down from Yahoo or
Dogpile - I think I also saw an alt.graphics.cthugha NG which is presumably the
same Cthugha.
Metasynth renders images sonically
Or there is Geiss for WinAmp, which (IMHO) is rather better than
Cthuga.
Both should be available either from www.mp3.com or www.customize.org

This calls for a very special blend of psychology, and extreme violence.

that beautiful piece of software is only avaliable for mac though =( try
Coagula, too. it looks cheap, but is fairly powerful once you know how to use it.
it can write a WAV file based on the image data of a BMP... it's neat.

Would you happen to have a URL for that?
TIA.
for coagula, see http://hem.passagen.se/rasmuse/Coagula.htm
the same guy also makes a program called Granulab, which is unrelated, but worth
checking out anyway... there's a link at the bottom of the coagula page
