Here's a bio of Clifford Gilberto:
http://ninjatune.net/ninja/releases/ninjaalbums/zen33/iwishiwasamotownstar.html
of course, this could all be made up...
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Clifford Gilberto was born 26 years ago in Terre Haute, Indiana. When
he was only 9 years old his parents moved to France and again a year
later to Germany, where he lived until he was 16. He moved back to the
U.S., finished High-School and came back to Germany when he was 19 to
study product design in Frankfurt. Bored by his school's design
approach, he decided that designing spaceships for movies was much
more fun and soon got a job as a production designer and 3D-animator
in a German film company. He now works mostly as production designer
and director for music videos.
Clifford has been a classically trained pianist since the age of 8.
When he was 13 he started to get into Thelonius Monk and Charlie
Mingus and drove his piano teacher up the wall by improvising on top
of Rachmaninoff preludes. He played in several bands but eventually
decided that he could achieve more by himself, although he never
thought about releasing his material, until his girlfriend made him
send a demo tape to his favourite labels (actually he only sent two)
and a week later he got a call from Ninja ...
Clifford Gilberto's music is not about the biggest beat or the fattest
bass or the cleanest mix - it's about having fun, it's about being
either hyperactive or megastoned ( or both at the same time ), it's
about not giving a shit and about wishing to be a Motown Star, it's
about jazz (well, yeah ...) and about not doing the same thing twice.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I doubt it. Listen to the spunk jazz compilation or some of the Worm Interface
material. You'll hear alot of artists that sound like Squarepusher. Tom may
have been instrumental in starting the drill n bass sound, but that doesn't
mean he's the only one doing it.
Next thing ya know, people will be claiming Animals On Wheels (also on Ninja
Tune) is Tom J.
Besdies, Cliford Gilberto has toured the states as part of one of the Ninja
Tune tours a few years ago, and Tom Jenkinson has never toured the states.
Explain that.

Okay..from the liner notes of Coldcut's Timber single...
"The Clifford Gilberto Rhythm Combination are a digital band specialising in
junk junk jazz classics. They are based in Frankfurt, Germany. Their Leader
(aka Florian Schmitt) is a video and film editor by day and their album is
forthcoming on Ninja."
Their remix of Timber is credited to Florian Schmitt too..
Lots of people have stolen ideas from other people throughout
history, but Clifford Gilberto popping up just as Squarepusher
decides to change genres, it does seem a bit fishy.
But does it matter anyways?

Blood runs! Flags wave! Come on, everybody, throw down your tools and knock
down the barricade. Run into the Winter Palace and stand on tables,
waving bits of paper at each other! Yes! Yes!! Hello, are you the Czar?!
Yes, I am, actually [points finger] Bam bam! Tough luck, fascist!!
>Tom J would do somethin like this 2.
I don't think so. Tom J always puts his name on all the records he releases
under his aliases. The reason alot of artists use aliases, is to be able to
record for other labels (it's a way of sneaking around their contracts).
Clifford Gilberto recently toured Europe on the Ninja Tine tour (Nove-Dec). I'm
sure people who went could report about it.

Well, they didn't just 'pop-up'. They've been around for a while, now.
sure people who went could report about it. <-- of course Florian Schmitt
and then they change the name to clifford Gilberto ....... And not to
mention I got a different bio when I asked the head of ninja tune. Seriously I
doubt Cliford Gilberto...toured and then there is the question of no
interviews. ANd They use the same equipment take away the samples which Tom J
probably used to disguise his sound. And you some heavy theories going on. ANd
I think those are tom Js nikes on the cover!! lol The bass my god even a loop
from Come on my selector ...... All the drum programming sounds like from Tom
Js vault. maybe it is a duo and tom J is in it..but i think the nail in the
coffin is the Fender Jazz Bass with his head covered over. And Ive seen
pictures I believe of Tom J. And if somebody believes that bio on Cliford G I
mean lol Yea they went on tour ...a DAT tour ...with video screens
lol and they probably were masked if it was live
