Here is the situation:

I have over 200 of my favorite songs on .Mp3. I want to get an mp3
player for DOS on a dedicated mp3 hard drive for my car. I want to
run it on a 486/66 if possible. So, it would be like this, A
motherboard, a 16 bit sound card, and a hard drive with nothing on it
but DOS, the mp3 player, and the mp3s. With the autoexec.bat to load
the files of course. If possible, I could have a small key board to
interface with the program.

Is there an Mp3 playing program out there which I can use?

Thanks in advance,

Bill K.

Making a new computer in your car would be very impractical. Car
power is unreliable and your mp3s would sound crappy on a 486/66.

Heres a easier solution :
1) get a reciever w/ RCA jacks on the back and a tape deck hooked on
to it or some stereo with RCA jacks on the back.

2) Goto Radio Shack and get this cable: two RCA jack male to a male
stereo mini plug. It looks like a " Y ".

3) Connect the cable from the out port of your soundcard to the in RCA
ports on your reciever or stereo.

4) Play the mp3 on your computer (at least a 486-100) and record it
using the tape deck attached to your reciever.

5) Put the tape in your car's stereo and enjoy!

Make sure to -
*use a fast computer so the mp3s play in stereo sound and don't skip.

*record in Dolby NR C or better, it reduces tape hiss alot.

If you have a AWE64 Gold -
Your soundcard has RCA jacks on the back. Just use regular audio
cables to connect to your reciever.

Good Luck

I'm not too sure if there is an MP3 player for DOS, sorry. I was wondering
though if you had any Tragically Hip MP3's? Or if you had any good sites
where you get your MP3's from. I'm just starting my collection and would
appreciate the help. Your idea is interesting, that would be great if it
could work, having all of the songs on my computer in my car would be
great. Let me know if it works out for you.

Thanks,
Phil

Here is my .MP3 section of my Web Page bookmarks. Awesome search
engines. Copy this and paste it in Notepad for best viewing. You can
copy and paste it into your bookmarks as well. Have fun...
