When did T Rex appear at the Lanchester Polytechnic in Coventry?
It was early in their T Rex phase, probably 1971. The set was split in
two; first half accoustic, second electric. I remember a speaker stack
falling off the stage and landing on a punter. Marc was harangued for
taking a while to tune up, and he answered the taunts with "We're
musicians, not machines, man" which won a big round of applause.
Further trivia: I was having a wee B4 the show in the Lanch's toilets
and Marc came and stood beside me sharing the same pleasure. My
greatest hero since forever and I didnt say a word - I was so cool!
After the show he stood on the stairs in the foyer chatting to fans.

h I remember that (It was Lanchester by the way, not Lancaster as in your gigs list). We were visiting a pal at the university because he got tickets and we drove up from Cambridge. As already said the second half was electric as opposed to first which was acoustic with jingly bells etc, Marc by the way was a stonking electric rock guitarist.\to my best memory his band was quite new and was a standin for another band who had broken up and/or stopped travelling, they were called Fairport Convention ...

I was at the concert and lived in Coventry. I was friends with Marc and his wife June. He sent me ten tickets and I took family and friends. It was Micky Finns first concert and afterwards he asked me how it was. Seems like another life now. 63 years old
