Hi,

Is there anyone who knows where I could find out about
a band called Boytronic (Albums, et.c.).

I think that they were (are still?) around in the mid-
eighties (judging by the one song I have heard - Luna
Square). Apart from 'Luna Square' I think they have
released a song called 'You', but I'm not quite sure...

The music as such is a cross between 'Mike Mareen' and
'Laser Dance' and 'Future World Orchestra' (sort of).

Both Mike Mareen (Love Spy, Don't Talk To The Snake, ...)
and Laser Dance (Can't think of any off-hand...) were
released on ZYX (Germany), but that may not be of any
relevance? Future World Orchestra wrote the theme music
for E.T.

Thanks!

Peter.

Boytronic is one of the best examples of the Belgian New Beat sound,
Belgium's version of house/techno. The music is characterized by
slower bpm'z than most house, stripped down hypnotic beats (strong
2/4), arabic influences, minimal vocals, and an eerie atmoshere.
The only Boytronic I've found on CD is on the compilation "This is the
New Beat" on BCM records (German import label, if I'm not mistaken).
Their track "Bryllyant" is easily the strongest on the record, and
probably one of the best tracks of this genre.

Here is the complete (?) story about Boytronic...

The band started off in Germany in the early 80's with Peter Sawatzki,
xxx Wobker and the singer Brylliant Berger as members. In 1983 they released
their first album 'The working model' and two 12" taken from it; 'Diamonds
and loving arms' and 'You'. The music was plain synthetic pop and the band
had a obvious gay-image. The mentioned album is probably the best.
In 1985 they released their second album 'The Continental' and a few singles
from it. They also released a single called 'Late night sattelite' which is
not to be find on the album. The sound on 'The continental' is somewhat main-
stream and the real 'synthetic feeling' is missing, even though it is a quite
good album.
In 1986 they released a 12" called 'Hurts' which was supposed to be the first
single from a new album. Somehow the album was canceled, I think. I haven't
seen nor heard it. The 12" is pretty cool with it's hardrock guitar riffs on
a synthetic bassline.
In 1987 (?) the name 'Boytronic' was bought by a major label and none of
the original members were in the group. The new Boytronic released a new
album which was a real bullshit one. The sound was close to italo-disco.
I can't remember the name of the album.
