any questions or insights that might be of help, please e-mail me.

Thanks,

OK- so I'd like to know if Sakamoto is gay (I'm gay)- he has been such a
tremendous influence on Sylvian (who I know is not gay)... I really
loved his CD "Beauty" and "Neo Geo," but I've never heard "Heartbeat"
nor his latest, which I guess has a bit of a dance beat to it (judging
from the semi-drag album cover... I never could afford to collect his
$45+ earlier cds (japanese issues) so I don't have much to go on... But
I know he's a master of the keyboard, piano and otherwise. What are is
influences? I know he was a part of something called the Yellow Magic
Orchestra. What was that? was he the leader of YMO? what does he think
of Sylvian's career during the late *0's and 90's?

I'd like to know if he anticipates ever doing a significant tour of
the US. I know he has played scatterred dates but am unaware of any
full tours.

Also, ask if he will be doing any soundtrack work and if so, will it
be orchestral or otherwise.

I sure you'll ask but I'll write this anyway, ask for any info,
stories, impressions of the new DS album.

Will you be transcribing the interview? If so will you post it here?
to the DS List?

THanks.......

Just read a message in the net about Sakamoto and it mentions that he is
doing an acoustic tour starting around 15/6 and will be coming to europe.
Lets hope this is right.

I just saw in the stores a new Ruichi Sakamoto album called 1996 which
includes Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence and many other older tracks. What I
couldn't tell is if this is a collection or a new rendition of these
songs. Also, as I didn't recognize some of the titles, I don't know if
they're all older tracks.

Can someone shed enlighten me?

Hi there:

1996 is an album of some of Mr. Sakamoto's best known pieces performed by
the trio of Ryuichi Sakamoto (piano),
Jaques Morelenbaum (cello) and Everton Nelson (violin).

He will be touring worldwide this summer including New York (Summerstage
and The Knitting Factory). Regarding my interview with RS, it will appear
in an upcoming issue of Seconds. We spoke quite a bit about DS. So don't
miss it. He also has a very cool web site, sorry, but I don't have the
URL handy.

What is 'Seconds' and where can I get a copy in the UK?
