Hey ABBA fans: I bought an Australian Bjorn Again 2-CD set today on
Festival (TVD 93423). One CD, "Flashback," is a collection of HI-NRG
cover versions of pop classics such as "Band of Gold" and "Will You Love
Me Tomorrow?" The other CD, however, is a live recording of Bjorn Again's
ABBA tribute. They do 14 ABBA songs. (A studio recording of "Just Like
That" is tacked on to the end for good measure.) Anyone who has seen Bjorn
Again perform will enjoy this live CD, which successfully captures how
much fun they have with the material and the crowd. Also, a few tracks
such as "Ring Ring" are reworked a bit and, yes, now you can do the dance
routines in the privacy of your own home! The Bjorn Again "Live Album" is
definitely worth checking out.

I like it too. Someone complained earlier that he didn't know what the
point of the "Flashback" CD was since Bjorn Again was attempting to sound
like ABBA as if ABBA were recording those songs today. While I think Bjorn
Again does a fairly good job of that, the point is IT'S FUN! It's not an
important dramatic opus like Wagner's Ring Cycle. I listen to the CD when
I work out on the stairclimber, and when I hear BA's cover of "Black Is
Black" it pumps me up. The album is sort of like ABBA meets Stock Aitken
Waterman.

Viva ABBA!

BTW, has anyone heard of the movie "Muriel's Wedding"? It was reviewed in
Details this month, and it's supposed to be about a woman who wants her
life to be like an ABBA song. The Details review says, "[Muriel] changes
her name to Mariel and realizes her dream not only of marrying (a blond
god, no less) but of living in an ABBA song. Her life becomes, she
confides to a new friend, "as good as 'Dancing Queen.'" The movie
apparently won top honors at the Australian Oscars. Curious if it's worth
seeing.

It is indeed! I saw it a month ago (Aachen, Germany). Nice story and in
several scenes famous ABBA songs.

Living in an ABBA song? Lucky it wasn't "The Visitors" ;-)
