For those who didn't get a chance to read this in the recent British
music weeklies:

BERNARD BUTLER, the former Suede guitarist, is launching a career as a
solo artist and has signed to Creation Records for an undisclosed sum.
Butler will play guitar and sing his own songs. He is currently
Auditioning musicians for his backing band. In a brief statement, Butler
said he was 'happy to find a home'. Alan McGee, head of Creation, added:
"When Neil Young left Buffalo Springfield, everyone said that he
couldn't sing and he'd never make it on his own. Since then, he's given
us nearly 30 years of great music. We see Bernard as our new Neil Young.
He's only 26 but he's already one of the great guitarists of all-time.
And a cool singer, too."

According to Butler's spokesman, he has started recording with a
Japanese drummer called Mako, and will put together a full-time band
over the next couple of months. Creation is hoping to release Butler's
solo material later this year. His last major project was with singer
David McAlmont. He also played on Tim Booth and Angelo Badalamenti's
album 'Booth And The Bad Angel'.

Butler's spokesman stated: "He's written lots of new songs, about 30 in
the last few months, and he's put a few of those down on tape. It's
genius, absolute genius, and we're really excited about it." He added
that Butler was also writing the score for a forthcoming British film,
'The James Gang', starring Four Weddings And A Funeral and McCallum
actor John Hannah.
