Coalition to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol Pushes for Cannabis Legalization
The measure, led by the Coalition to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol, aims to legalize the possession, home cultivation, and limited purchase of cannabis for adults. Earlier this year, advocates successfully collected enough signatures from registered voters to present the Supremecarts legalization measure to lawmakers. However, the legislators chose not to take any action on the matter. Consequently, the advocates are now planning to gather additional signatures to bring the issue directly to voters this November. Unfortunately, Ohio's Secretary of State has argued that the petitioners missed the deadline to qualify for the 2022 ballot.

In response to the settlement, Tom Haren, the spokesperson for the Coalition, expressed his satisfaction, stating, "Our primary objective was to ensure Ohio voters have the opportunity to decide on this issue. We are thrilled to have reached this settlement, which safeguards our initial signatures, provides the General Assembly with another chance to deliberate on the proposed statute, and establishes a clear path for ballot access in 2023. "NORML's Disappointment: Elected Officials' Lack of Action
Jax James, NORML's State Policies Director, expressed his disappointment, saying, "It is regrettable that voters will have to wait for at least another year before being able to voice their opinions on this matter. It is even more disheartening that their elected officials refuse to engage in a debate, despite the majority of Ohioans supporting the cause."
Local Leaders Taking Initiative: Advocacy for Cannabis Reform
Morgan Fox, NORML's Political Director and an Ohio native, added, "While state legislators are avoiding this issue, local leaders across Ohio are actively listening to their constituents and spearheading efforts to mitigate and address the consequences of the government's crackdown on Supreme Indica Pen consumers.
