STEELY DAN ANNOUNCES '96 SUMMER TOUR
Also Launch Web Site
Donald Fagen and Walter Becker a.k a STEELY DAN have announced
plans for their 1996 Summer Tour. This 28-city tour is scheduled
to begin on July 5th in Charleston, South Carolina and will
conclude on August 17th in George, WA.
Joining Becker and Fagen on this tour are: Tom Barney (Bass), John
Beasley (Piano and Keyboards), Ricky Lawson (Drums), Wayne Krantz
(Guitar), Cormelius Bumpus (Saxophone), Michael Leonhart
(Trumpet), Ari Ambrose (Saxophone), and Carolyn Leonhart
(Background Vocals)
In addition to classic Steely Dan songs, fans can expect a few
surprises as well as performances of new material from their
forthcoming record.
Recently the band launched their first ever web site which can be
found at http://pathfinder.com/steelydan. Visitors to the site are
greeted with colorful graphics and can see the history of Steely
Dan, get transcripts from Becker and Fagen writings, read an
article from orginal Dan member Denny Dias, download sound bytes,
correspond with Fagen and Becker, read some of their favorite
reviews,and experience the unique Steely Dan humor along the way
(make sure you check out the tour demands for their 1996 tour).
STEELY DAN has been recording since 1972 with the release of their
first album Can't Buy A Thrill. Steely Dan's music has been
instantaneously identifiable, a mix of jazz and rock with some
rhythm and blues thrown in as well. Their latest record Alive in
America, is their first album in 15 years and first ever live
record. It was recorded during the 1993 (28 cities, 34 shows) and
1994 (18 cities, 22 shows) tours and contains 11 classic Steely
Dan songs including "Black Friday", "Peg", "Green Earrings",
"Aja", "Reelin in the Years", and "Josie" among others.

The Sunday 14 April issue of the Chicago Tribune has an ad for the Dan's
Shows at The New World Music Theatre, Tinley Park, IL (August 2) and
Alpine
Valley Music Theatre, East Troy, WI (August 3). The tickets for both
venues go on sale at Noon (CDT) Saturday 20 April. TicketBastard still
doesn't have pricing. I will furnish that as I find out.

being held at the Merriweather Post Pavillion. However, I read a
correction in this
newsgroup that said there was a correction - that it would be in Manassa,
VA instead. I have called the Merriweather Post Pavillion and they do not
list Steely Dan on their schedule. Does anyone know the name of the place
they would play
in Manassa? The ticket outlets are no help at all!!!!! Any information

my tickets. The concert is in Manassa, VA at the Nissan Pavilion. This
is not far from Washington D.C. if anyone is interested. The tour
schedule that has been posted on the Steely Dan home page and on this
newsgroup is incorrect because it shows July 21 as being at the
Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD. Here is the phone number for
tickets at the Nissan Pavillion: 703-573-7328.
