Danny Wilson took their name from a Frank Sinatra film "Meet
Danny Wilson," which by no conicidence is the title of their
debut album. Their sound had a bit of Omartian driven Katy Lied
period Dan flavor, especially on their first album. A touch of
Brian Wilson also as they fefatured a unique production of
typical 80s genre with retro tricks on the debut album which
featured the moderate hit "Mary's Prayer": besides nice acoustic
piano there's accordion, tuba, 50's style pop trumpeting, and
tympani drums in the mix with wistful lyrics. The second effort
BeBopMopTop has a few keepers but is more straight a
