I had a great time playing some of the Dan covers from "Me Myself and Irene"
for friends, some of whom aren't really Dan fans.
What I loved is that several folks said "He/she can't sing like Donald Fagen".
Any singers out there ever tried it? I have their complete scores, have
mastered some piano chords but could never in a million years copy his vocals.
Many of the covers are, frankly, fascinating but in each case, you notice you
can duplicate the drums, guitar, sound, mood, etc. but NOBODY sings like Donald
Fagen.
I'm wearing out my Ellington welcome here, but I think I love Fagen's voice as
much as I do Ella's.
And so it goes....
