don't feel like the lone ranger, klaus. they only played Auburn last
year
and didn't make it to Seattle, which is like a gazillion miles away,
even though DONALD HIMSELF stayed at a hotel in downtown seattle.
getting to some venues is more than a pain in the ass; it's nearly
impossible
unless you own a car. i do not own a car.
additionally, seattle has a concert hall that was built for opera and
ballet,
accompanied by symphonic combinations, and yet there's nary been a
word about them considering mccaw hall, or even benaroya.
playing mccaw, by the way, would be incredibly cool, since it's in
seattle
center, just a few feet away from the space needle and the emp, and
surrounded by acres of lawn for concertgoers to hang out on and relax
on.
who knows how they make these choices? the gorge was logical, but even
farther away from seattle than last year's venue. still, that was cool
because
it meant a lot of people could camp out and party all night long
before the
performance.
but there are at least three huge venues--safeco field, qwest field
and u.w.
stadium--where they could have played and actually BEEN in seattle
last
time.
they didn't play seattle. they never play seattle. but they're happy
to use
seattle's name to get people to attend their concert in auburn.
note to d&w: hey, bozos! make the fucken trip, guys. you'll fill the
house,
easy, no problem, standing room only, as if you were playing back at
your
old stomping grounds.
i sure as shit ain't traveling to some dive in east buttfuck,
washington, even
to hear steely dan.
note: they haven't even scheduled a performance in the northwest for
this
tour, anyway, so what's the point in crabbing about it? they aint
comin.

The tickets for the gig at Molde Jazz Festival, Norway July 19 went on
sale yesterday.
I see there are other similar instances of strange venue choices.
I can fully support Your point that it would be cool for a change to
see SD play in your home town.
I stop whining immediately and start thinking if I should hit the
road. However, I've done my share of travelling for SD concerts, been
to CA in 2000 for two shows (Irvine, Mountain View wearing my
Lederhosen), and to Stockholm, 2x Frankfurt (1996, 2000).
