Have other artists recorded any notable cover versions of Steely Dan songs?

(And vale Nina Simone - I bet she would have done a good job at the odd SD
song if she wanted)

Pat Travers covered "Black Friday" on "Don't Feed the Alligators"

They should both be honored (SD and PT).

They both started their careers at about the same time, and I consider them
equals in musical talent.

YUCK! Dont bother with "No Static At All" - it's bland and boring.

Check out Justin Morell's "The Music of Steely Dan"

here is the link on Amazon.com:

Check out the reviews.

Agreed. As was the Hoops McCann tribute. Instrumentals of Steely Dan songs
make as much sense as reciting Van Halen lyrics as poetry.

I didn't like the 'No Static At All' tribute, but enjoy the Hoops McCann
tributes. The Justin Morrell and Stolen Van tracks are also impressive.

Easily the worse cover for me is Tori Amos' arrangement of "Do It Again" -
imagine the likes of Kate Bush singing Do It Again, but at a quarter of the
tempo and you've got it!! ugh!
