Ok, let's get some action in this group . . .

What's your opinion on who is the MOST IMPORTANT member of Squeeze? Namely,
Glenn Tilbrook or Chris Difford? If Chris left the band, could Squeeze
continue? How about a Squeeze without Glenn?

Or was the band destined for obscurity once Paul Carrack (or "insert name")
moved on?

What's your opinion and why?

"Most important"? Squeeze is a living, breathing band. Maybe you can have
the "appendix" of the band removed, or even have a "liver transplant". But
if you remove *ANY* of the vital organs the band is going to die. It's
like asking which you could best do without: your lungs or your heart!

Or am I all wrong?

If for any reason one or the other left the group my theories are..........
Glenn would go into producing and probably turn his hand to a bit of dance
music or remixing.
Chris would write for everyone in the world

Squeeze would be no more if either left, but A&M would be happy - it would
be an excuse for another compilation!!!

No - quite right.

If either Glenn or Chris were to leave,
it simply would not be Squeeze any
longer. I don't believe there can be
any argument on that point. Take away
either (or, god help us, both) of the two
prime movers,and the whole thing
would just fold into itself like a poorly
assembled house of cards.

When it was just Difford & Tilbrook, it wasn't quite Squeeze either, and in my
honest opinion, Squeeze hasn't quite been Squeeze since Jools Holland left, he
was a character and a marvelous contributor, as if Ringo had left the Beatles
perhaps, take that anyway you want to!

I agree about Jools. His contributions to Squeeze, both in personality and
playing were enormous. Sweets From a Stranger is a fine album, but imagine how
much better it would be if Jools had played (instead of Mike Snow) a la Cosi
Fan Tutti Frutti.
I never cared for Paul Carrack.
Gilson Lavis is a great drummer, though he rode the cymbals a bit much at
times. John Bentley was a a very strong bass player, in my opinion a better
player than Kakouli.
Keith Wilkinson is fantastic. His fretless bass on Cosi Fan makes the album
sound even more unique than it is.
Glenn and Chris are the best, and are a complete team. Chris' lyrics,
couldn't find a better tune than Glenn's melodies, and the opposite applies
too. I would buy a solo album from either, (but I would be in a bit more of a
hurry to pick Glenn's up.)

Uh, isn't it Don Snow, aka John Savanah??

You are absolutely 100% correct. Mike Snow does the music on some TV show
that I watch (which I can't remember at the moment), and everytime I see the
name, I think of Don Snow, then I pass out...
Don, Mike, Yellow, whatever, the Snow on the Sweets from a Stranger LP,
was the weakest Squeeze link, IMO.
