The movie was much too bloody! I've seen both the original theater
productions with Angela Lansbury with Patti Lapone...both actors'
performances were outstanding. Rent the DVD's of the plays to compare
the movie to the live theater versions and see for yourself.
Sondheim's music/lyrics are the best, of course!
