Hi All,
I was just wondering if anyone had the meaning to the title
"The Draize Train". I can't find the word "draize" in the
dictionary. Cool song though....I like the intro, with the
delay pedal.........

Thanks...

Ifind this to be a pretty worthless song, considering the lack of lyrics.

Can't agree. Love the Rank version. Love the fact Craig Gannon plays
guitar. To me, he could have saved the Smiths. Would've taken a lot of
songwriting/performing pressure off of Johnny. Studio version is a bit
shite, agreed.

It's worthless because it's repetitive. But instrumentals are excellent
and any band that can make decent ones (The Smiths with the gorgeous
Oscillate Wildly, and Blur, and Pink Floyd) should be commended. Music
isn't just lyrics, by a looonnnng shot...

Um... isn't "Oscillate Wildly" pretty repetitive itself?

Well, I just listened to it (with my near-perfectly-functioning ears) and
those two parts with the synth-stringy sounding instrument are
basically the same 4-6 bars repeated over and over. It's a good song, but
I think it could use a bit more guitar. "The Hand That Rocks The Cradle"
- now *that's* repetitive. Personally, I think whether or not a song
repeats itself is pretty irrelevant. "This Charming Man" repeats itself,
but I don't see anyone knocking it. Of course, according to Frank Zappa,
all songs repeat themselves too much anyway. Whatever.

"Oscillate Wildly" is a lot better, yes. I'm not really into
instrumentals, however, unless it's surf instrumentals, whioch are kind of
cool and not boring.

I also like the "Interlude" instrumental version, by Morrissey's band, a
lot. When I'm feeling stressed out it always relaxes me.

You really like Pink Floyd? That's pretty strange, for a Smiths fan. I
guess that makes you more open-minded than me, but I don't think it
indicates good taste! = ) Don't you find Pink Floyd a bit masturabatory
and pretensious?

Anyone who wishes to hear "The Draize Train" with lyrics (albeit not
Morrissey's) need only purchase (I believe the album is) "Bete Noir"
by Bryan Ferry. "The Right Stuff" is "Draize Train".

Uh-uh - nil points. It's "Money Changes Everything", not "The Draize train".

Hmm... the latest stuff _is_ a bit pretentious. But Wish You Were Here,
with the faultless Shine On You Crazy Diamond and the eponymous ballad,
and the *whole* of Dark Side Of The Moon... well I challenge any other
artist today to come up with anything quite so seamless and *overcome*...

*sob* :)

All songs have lyrics, you fool, otherwise they aren't songs. A song is defined by singing.
