I was looking through the usenet newsgroups available to me through my
ISP and found this one. Unfortunatly it seems to be dead. The
Smithereens were one of my favorite "modern rock" bands back in the 80s.
Thats what we called it back then, before the terms "new rock" and
"alternative rock". For those of you who are too young, in the 80s and
early 90s there was real "alternative rock", not this metal-rap and
punk-pop garbage thats around today. Anyway, if anyone is still around
to read this I'm glad the Smithereens are still remembered by you.

Yep, I still listen to all my Smithereens records. This newsgroup might
not be so dead if they'd tour a bit more than their current sporadic
east-coast-only shows!
