Post Mortem
Raining Blood
South of Heaven
Silent Scream
Mandatory Suicide
Ghosts of War

Hallowed Point
Seasons In The Abyss
Sex, Murder, Art

Bitter Peace
Flesh Storm
I wouldn`t argue with much of your list to be honest. If I were picking one
for general release I`d probably pick stuff like Dead Skin Mask and
Mandatory Suicide as they seem to be real popular but if it`s purely for
me...
The Antichrist
Black Magic
Fight till Death
Chemical Warfare
Haunting the Chapel
Hell Awaits
At Dawn they Sleep
Necrophilliac
Angel of Death
Altar of Sacrifice
Jesus Saves
Reborn
Post Mortem
Raining Blood
South of Heaven
Live Undead
Ghosts of War
War Ensemble
Spirits in Black
Born of Fire
Dittohead
Fleshstorm
I`d like to have a few more recent songs but I was already up to 20 and
didn`t want to leave any of the others out!! I`d bung in Circle of Beliefs,
Bitter Peace and Cult if possible.
Well ok, if I drop Bitter Peace and Sex, Murder, Art then that's 20 on
mine too, so if everyone else could try and do it with 20 songs.
Ahhh, you misunderstand me, I meant I`d already got up to 20 songs by the
time I was done with Divine Intervention so only picked another 2 from the
last 3 albums.

Ah ok, forget what I said earlier...blonde moment.
I wanted to fit it in, however I felt I needed to include some later
tracks. Alternatively I had thought about ignoring everything after DI
with the exception of Flesh Storm.
Personally I would ignore everything after Seasons, even though I love
DI, the stuff previous is just so much better. For my list just pick
20 random tracks from SNM, HA, RiB and SitA.

I'd probably go that way as well. Although I might have one or two
off of SoH. Maybe not so random in the picks though.
Tom
Mine would be more or less that except I'd take tracks from SOH and
none from SITA...
I know it's fairly heretical to say but SitA is my second fav Slayer
album. For me it destroys SoH, a album I have never really got on
with, apart from the odd track.

I still play SoH, every two or three years...or more.
I think SOH has some very very good tracks...SoH, Silent Scream,
Ghosts of War and Behind The Crooked Cross, but it also has some
rubbish, Spill the Blood, Live Undead (sorry Ian, just don't like it),
and Dissident Aggressor (which is not a patch on the original).
In alphabetical order...
Angel of Death
At Dawn They Sleep
Black Magic
Captor of Sin
Die By the Sword
Dissident Aggressor
Flesh Storm
Ghosts of War
Haunting the Chapel
Jesus Saves
Hell Awaits
I Hate You
Live Undead
Love to Hate
Overt Enemy
Point
Raining Blood
Seasons in the Abyss
Spill the Blood
South of Heaven
Scrum
The Antichrist
If you don't want the two covers included, you gotz my top 20.
SG
It might be due a listen...I honestly can't remember the last time I
played it.
E.
It's been a while, I admit since I played any Slayer. Been taking a
break from them for a while now.

You're gonna have a good laugh at my "best of.. " then...
SG
It's an awesome song by both bands. \m/ South of Heaven!! \m/

SOH's biggest challenge is that it followed the most important thrash
album of all time. There is nothing Slayer could have done that would
not have been disappointing.
The album has aged very well however, IMO, full of cast iron classics
(yes even Mandatory Suicide!).
SITA has aged poorly IMO and is the second worst Slayer album.

gotta love opinions, eh?
I think SITA is when slayer lost the plot. Been sayin it for years.
Still havent heard DI in full because I gave up after SITA for a while.
I donno if SITA is the 2nd worse, but it's EASILY the worst by the
"original slayer". I completely agree about SOH however. Has aged
tremendously.
Live Undead is my favourite track on the album...apart from possibly the
title track. I was really disappointed with it when it came out and a part
of me still is...but I did grow to love it. I think the album withers
away...the DA cover isn`t very good and Spill the Blood is an anti-climatic
closer.
Pure madness, GHUA, CI, DiM are far worse. Anyway all that ageing
nonsense is superfluous twaddle, you just don't like it..:-)
SoH still sucks donkey balls in comparison.

Another opinion.

You're going to start in with that "you just don't like it" stuff
again.
Tom
SoH probably isn't overplayed by me over the years. Should be good
to put in a listen.

I like SiTA less every time I hear it, so the "aging badly" comment is
pretty spot on. I even made sure to put in the usenet-friendly IMO
just for you ;)
And I think the only album worse than SITA is GHUA. I like DiM *much*
better (yes, even though half the album is shit). CI is better overall
IMO although War Ensemble kicks the entire album's ass.

DI is a tremendous album. I couldn't recommend it more highly.
It has also aged extremely well.

the circle of beliefs
Looks like I already did. Really can't see your point?
E.
You're clearly deaf and thus invalidates your opinion.

I prefer DI to Seasons, possibly one of the most under-rated albums in the
history of metal. I do like Seasons a lot though...when it came out I was
completely death metalled up so didn`t listen to it a great deal. If
anything I warmed to it more with time after going back to it after a couple
of years. I would like to see both SoH and Seasons get a remaster, the
guitars need bringing up in SoH and I think Seasons could sound punchier
overall.

Is there any talk of Slayer albums getting remastered at all?
Tom
Tom Araya did say a couple years back that everything from RiB through to
GHUA was due a re-release but nothing ever seemed to come of it.
Tom
I know they have remastered versions of SNM and HA in the shops, so
hopefully the rest will follow but I've not heard anything.
> I know they have remastered versions of SNM and HA in the shops, so

It would be nice.
Tom
sita fucking rules the hundreds of other crap put out
even now other bands don't like following slayer in a show
saw mayhem in va with stupid following slayer. it was a mass exodus
after slayer performed
they cannot be touched
it's "spirit in black" moron not "spirits in black" and btw spirit in
black should be tied with anything on rib
wierd; i like sita more every time i hear it
Oh goody! I'll let E begin the proceedings.
So you're a pedantic twat, that's good to know. However if we're
being pedantic, you could try writing in something a kin to the
English language, instead of retard speak.

Got to love sheep.
Not seen anyone of this quality for a long time. Fun times ahead.
E.

That`s a good way to ingratiate yourself into a new group...call a regular a
moron over such a negligible error. If you want to be so pedantic it`s
"Spirit in Black".
Mayhem following Slayer??
well that's about all i can manage to do
preference a sheep does not make. if i were a metallica fan, i'd grant
you a point.
slayer is the best at what the do in my opinion
that's what plenty of beer and lack of sleep do. i'm sure you've been
there
i agree
manson(aka stupid) followed slayer at the mayhem festival
Add multiple shit stabbings and yes, Wyrd has been there, many times.
unless you define "what they do" as "playing old slayer songs" and not
"playing thrash metal" they haven't been the best at what they do in
about 20 years. Kreator is hands down the best band at "playing
thrash metal" in the 2000s, and I'd venture that Testament (and
probably a few others) were doing more interesting stuff than slayer
in the 90s (although the 90s were a rough decade for thrash purists)
I`d agree on Kreator although the new Slayer album is damn good. Testament
did make the godly `The Gathering` in the 90`s but also `The Ritual` which
is worse than any Slayer album and none of their other 90`s albums are a
patch on Divine Intervention. It`s difficult to pick a thrash band that
didn`t falter in the 90`s...even the ones that didn`t totally sell out (
such as Sodom or Overkill ) weren`t making particularly good albums.
