I know there are some thrash metal heathens in here that pooh-pooh this
album but for me it`s long overdue a decent remaster and I`ll be picking
this up as soon as it`s released!!

This record was done at a time when life was moving so fast for us, and I
think the music reflects that pace. I really enjoyed going back into 1986/87
and found some great stuff in my vault I had forgot about. I think ANTHRAX
fans will enjoy this remastered collection; the high end and low end is back
as how it was intended to sound. Thrash metal is alive and well in 'Among
The Living'," says drummer Charlie Benante.

Agree. Anthrax are more overrated than Metallica IMO.

They're also doing another 2 CD live thing. Maybe with a DVD. This
fall release schedule will bankrupt me yet.

I don't care if it is over-rated, I do like the album a lot. As for
picking it up on remaster, I don't know yet.

Scott was telling me they have remastered all of their back catalogue
for reissue over the next few months. Apparently STD and FFOM have
come up really well too.

I'll definitely pick up the first three on remaster, they've been
crying out for it for ages.

All they need to do is re-do them with a decent singer..;-)

That live album was supposed to come out a couple of years back...indeed I
thought it already had but had been limited or something ( I have it on my
hard drive, found a copy on soulseek a few months back ).

We have a mutual friend who put me in touch with him, as for Bush I
haven't a clue what's happening. All I know is that Scott Ian would
love John to rejoin on a permanent basis.

They did re-record some of the older classics with Bush on a "best
of" type album. This was years ago.

Yes I know, I have got it. Still would have preferred them to just
rerecord the whole lot with a decent singer.

There's nothing wrong with Joey to be honest, Bush might be better but
those early albums are the ones that got me into the band, and I'm
quite happy to hear them with the original singer, whether that be
Joey or Neil.

A friend of mine put me in contact with Scott Ian via email, and I
received a message from Scott telling me about the remastered tracks.

I have hated Joey's voice since I first heard the band. I still
bought one of their albums back in the day in the hope of over-coming
his voice as I generally like the music (just like 'deth). Between
Joey and Dave they have shaped my (in)tolerances for singers.

I love Mustaine's snarly vocals, but Belladonna is one of my least
favorite vocalists in all of metal.

So, do you tolerate DM growling vocals?

Tom

Wyrd

Oh quite easily. As I have said before, I have no interest in what
they are singing about, so the growls just kind of melts into the
background. I would miss them if they weren't there, but I don't need
them right in my face. I can tolerate most singers to be honest. I
am utterly bored with metalcore and people screaming at me, I detest
Power Metal's sugar coated sing along choruses and the high pitched
vocals.

I guess I just like the lower, deep tones. There are times when those
high pitched singers have made me wince with pain, so it's best if I
avoid the lot of them. The problem is, a lot of bands labelled prog,
heavy metal, hard rock have the same type of vocals. Which is a shame
as I generally like the music.

Having listened to the latest 'deth album and as he's using a lower
tone, which I can tolerate, then I don't have to many issues with his
vocals. Just wish the rest of the back catalogue was the same, as
then I would probably be more of a fan.

I am not sure I can rate my hatred of different vocalists. They all
just get lumped into *sigh* "Another decent band with a shit vocalist"
group and are then ignored. Some bands do get extra chances, Deth and
Anthrax being the main two.

Did you ever get around to hearing the Augury album?

Tom

I have spun it once, but in all honesty, now I can't remember a thing
about it. As I get better and spend more time on the computer I will
have more time to check out bands properly and Augury will be checked
again.

I have just gone through my 2009 folder and there is plenty in there
that I just can't remember a thing about.

I guess that makes it tough to remember things. With Augury, I can't
say a lot about the songs and lyrics, because the DM vocals are so
deep and gutteral and such. I do like the music.
I have gave it 5 listens since buying the CD Tuesday.
