Does anybody remember who the female sax player was that had a nice
sized hit in the late 80'? The song I'm thinking of was an
instrumental and got lots of play time on the radio.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

#16 FIND ANOTHER FOOL-QUARTERFLASH RINDY ROSS ALTO

#3 HARDEN MY HEART-QUARTERFLASH RINDY ROSS ALTO

#14 TAKE ME TO HEART-QUARTERFLASH RINDY ROSS ALTO

Rindy Ross was the lead singer and co-founder of Quarterflash, whose
award-winning debut album on Geffen Records went platinum in 1982. Marv Ross,
her husband, was the founder, guitarist-songwriter, and producer of
Quarterflash and The Trail Band. The Rosses have toured with Elton John, Linda
Ronstadt, and The Beach Boys.
This band from Portland, Oregon, were most renowned for October 1981's US #3
hit single, "Harden My Heart." This track also reached the UK Top 50.
Originally known as Seafood Mama, Quarterflash boasted the talents of
husband-and-wife team Rindy Ross (vocals, saxophone) and Marv Ross (guitar).
The other members of the band were Jack Charles (vocals, guitar), Rich Gooch
(bass), Rick DiGiallonardo (keyboards), and Brian Willis (drums). They had two
further US Top 20 singles with "Find Another Fool" (# 16, February 1982) and
"Take Me To Heart" (#14, June 1983). They recorded three albums, though their
1981 debut met with the most commercial success, reaching #8 in the US. The
band split up in 1985 after the release of Back Into Blue, but reformed in 1990
much to the delight of classic AOR fans.
Quarterflash held their final concert in 1995 in the same Portland, Oregon Park
where they had their first concert. Marv and Rindy Ross retired the band after
making one last unreleased album with four new songs, one of which, called "Sad
but True," is a gorgeous ballad by Rindy. Also, Marv sings his first song on
this album. Marv now has his own music studio and Rindy went back to school for
a Master's degree. Marv produced the Trail Band, commissioned by the State of
Oregon, in which Rindy also performed. They produced a CD and toured the Oregon
area

Hey Hank,you're very welcome.
Now a funny story about 'Lily was here'
I had been gigging with a band in Merseyside, afterwards at the bar a
lady came up to me and started asking questions about Saxophones, she
tells me she loves Saxophones and do I know the Candy Dulfer song
'Lily was here' which she loves!
I reply that I'd never played it but knew what it was.
"Will you come to my home and play it for me whilst I have a shower"
she says
LMAO!
I er.....had to decline her kind offer!!
My girlfriend would be most displeased!!!

#11-LILY WAS HERE- CANDY DULFER ALTO, DAVID A. STEWART & CANDY DULFER

Candy Dulfer was born September 19, 1969, in Amsterdam. She was six years old
when she started playing the saxophone. Her father is Hans Dulfer, a renowned
jazz saxophonist. She performed locally with her father on several occasions,
and by doing many jam sessions in the club circuit of Amsterdam, Candy became
known among musicians as a hot new talent. At fourteen, she started her own
band Funky Stuff. She opened for Madonna at the Feyenoord Stadium in Rotterdam
in 1987. She has recorded with Maceo Parker, Dave Stewart, The Time, Jil Jones,
Patti LaBelle, and Prince. Candy was influenced by the saxophone styles of
Sonny Rollins and David Sanborn.
