I enjoy a most wonderful FM radio station here in Utah. Mornings on KUER
are NPR news. At 9:00 am classical music runs until about 4:00 pm. There
are news breaks at the hour.

Eary evening is both local news, in depth, and syndicated programs.

The best part starts at 7:00 pm when Wes Bowen comes on with a select
jazz program for two hours.

Tonight I heard this great big, huge, vintage tenor sax sound I could
not identify. Is anyone out there familier with Tommy Smith, or am I
just spending too much time in my cave?

PS Eat your hearts out. On weekends, jazz runs all night on Friday and
Saturday nights!

recently based in Scotland. Earlier he was heavily influenced by Coltraine. He
turns 32 years-young this year. Regards, John

He's heavily involved in the Jazz education scene here in Scotland,
teaching on workshop weekends and summer schools, etc.
His private lessons ain't cheap, though.

Recently married an excellent alto player, Laura MacDonald.

Was on Blue-Note for a while, but not now.

All the West of Scotland pros (**) recognise his talent,
but many feel that he "Lacks soul" - although that's possibly
a little envy speaking ;-)
