Hello...

I'm hoping somebody out there will be able to help me out here. :)

My brother's fiancée has told me she would like me to play the saxophone
at their wedding, and she asked me to come up with some suggestions for
music that would sound good on a sax, and that I thought would be
appropriate for a wedding. I've never played a wedding before, so I
honestly have no idea what sort of songs would be appropriate. Can
*anybody* out there help me with some suggestions? (Song titles & writer /
performer, so I can track down music...) Also, if you have any "general"
advice about playing weddings, I'd love to hear it. If you reply in the
newsgroup, please cc: a copy of your response directly to my email address,
kbp...@boston.crosswinds.net so I don't miss your response.

Thanks in advance for any help you folks can give!

Kevin

Tell your brothers fiancee that you would LOVE to play for their wedding
BUT it would be much more comfortable for you if she or her family hired
a quality combo for the dancing after the ceremony and for your back-up.

There are great songs with loving lyrics that are appropriate. Go
through some fake books for ideasbut make sure you read the lyrics.
Don't play: Love For Sale, Love is Groovier the Second Time Around or
Days of Wine and Roses.

I could suggest off the top of my head, "My Funny Valentine," " All the
Things You Are" or "I Love You Just The Way You Are."

I assume you mean at the church such as when the mothers come in or when the
couple light candles, etc.

I had a soloist sing "Whither Thou Go-est" (sp?) and there wasn't a dry eye in
the church. If you have a good sustained tone, that would be a fine one.
