Has anyone else heard about IMPULSE releasing
the Coltrane tapes Frank Tiberi had made in Philadelphia
of the classic Coltrane quartet ? It seems Tiberi had
recorded Trane at " The Showboat " in Philadelphia
in the early 60's.
I 've heard there are 15 & 17 min. versions of " Giant Steps "
and other classic material from this period.
It almost makes me want to give Tiberi a call to see what the scoop is. (( by
the way he is a very informative guy , who someday I got to take a lesson with-
he's got that essence of a real jazz warrior- he tells a deep story when he
plays. Check out his
disc-" Tiberian Mode , on NY JAM records with Lovano & Garzone ))
I've heard rumors . This has got to be some amazing stuff, if it can be
transferred from Tiberi's tapes.Which I know were reel to reels. Lets all keep
our collective fingers crossed !!
Just curious- any info here folks ? TIA- Tim Price
