Going to Los Angeles in July....Does anyone know of reputable
saxophone shops (used saxes) in the area?

Also, any Jazz venues or clubs to hear good live Jazz?
Thanks.....James L

There's one right around the corner from the Guitar Center on Sunset.
Walk west to the corner and turn north, then cross the street. It's a
great little place. They were selling a sweet vintage VI alto that
belonged to Paul Desmond.

Check out the following:

The Sax Shop (Rhueben Allen)
Horn Connection (Manny's)
Oleg's Music

I don't have current addresses, but you should be able to find
them in the yellow pages or on the internet.

Last I saw Reuben Allen he was working as a repairman at Zeps in Burbank,
but I heard a couple of weeks ago that he is now working as a Boosey and
Hawkes rep and repairman.

Oleg's and the Horn Connection are pretty much "it". Nick's in Agoura and
Santa Barbara has a good selection of new top of the line horns. Oleg and
Manny (Horn Connection) have very high prices. Oleg is an egomaniac.

Clubs:

The Jazz Bakery
Check out the Atlas in Hollywood, they are trying to mix West African Music
and Jazz - have interesting Jams on Sunday nights.

Check out the Knitting Factory on Hollywood Blvd...they have a website. Last
time I was in LA I got lucky and caught Charles Lloyd there. They do an
eclectic mix of sounds, but you might get lucky and catch some jazz.
