I am currently running 'Sibelius' notator programme and wondered whether
there is a jazz truetype font that I could download off the net, to add to
my windows fonts, so the 'tune titles' look like they're out of the fake
book.

Thanks

PG music supplies one with their Band-in-a-Box software that I like.
It is called "PG Text". It is virtually the same as a "Technical" font
I have that came with Corel Draw in 1992.

Sibelius has a Jazz font, its called "Inkpen", its on the demo CD.
I wish that software was a little less pricey!

Noteworthy Composer is a great Windows shareware notation program. $39.
http://www.noteworthysoftware.com It imports MIDI files and breaks
them apart. It doesn't do everything the big programs do, but it
doesn't cost $200-750 either.

Coda's "jazz" font is included with Finale 2000 and the Finale 2000
upgrade. Two new conventional fonts are also included, Maestro and
Maestro Wide. Alternatively, Coda sells the "jazz" font for $50.00.
See them at www.codamusic.com.

can you enter chord notation above the staff on noteworthy. If yes, can you
transpose a whole chart (notes plus chords)? How do you do it?

Check out www.jazzfont.com. The font here is called Jazz Font and now comes
with Finale. It's the best one I've seen out there. It was created by a
college buddy of mine, Rich Sigler. He plays trumpet with the Airmen of
Note. He's a great guy and his font looks incredible. There are demos on the
page. It's shareware, so be sure to pay Rich!
