Hi Group,

Well recently I purchased a yamaha YAS32 sax
which has been a step up from what I had before..

I want to be able to play good solos..
and I just love The Beloved's. sweet harmony from the 80's
and there is a georgeous sax solo at the end..........

Id love to be able to do that type of thing but have real problems
switching to a high register and hit a dull not rather than a right note..
I also cant get the emphasis and expression that seems to happen in the
mentioned piece of music even when I do hit the right notes??

What im wondering is, is it my sax that hinders me ... ?
and
what advice can you give on "expression and feel" that seems of such
'quality' in such mentioned song/music etc

Sincerely

Chris

Quick response.... no, it isn't, assuming everything is working as it
should.

He's a great UK player called Nigel Hitchcock, (has a cd called snakeranch
sessions, with scary version of Donna lee)
Plays in many top groups from horns with Robie williams, Ray Charles, Take
That, Hue & Cry, Carleen Anderson, Gary Barlow, The Beloved, Boo Radleys,
Robbie Williams, George Michael, Pink Floyd, Kylie Minogue, Brand New
Heavies, Cyndi Lauper, Moody Blues, Spice Girls, Tom Jones, Wet Wet Wet,
Kate Bush, Cher, James Brown, Boyzone...
to Chubby Hayes tribute with another amazing tenor player Mornington
Lockett, called Jazz couriers.
Check them out live in the UK, well worth it.

Pedantic correction time:

that's TUBBY Hayes...I believe Ronnie Scott was also in the original Jazz
Couriers.

Somebody influenced by David Sanborn, my guess Candy Dulfer.

Greg Strange,
Hamilton, North Island, New Zealand, South Pacific (actually it's winter
time down here)
