Gab, from what I have gathered;

David Sanborn: alto: new Dukoff SuperPowerChamber 7S and a new Dukoff
"Personal"
9(longer beak and more baffle work).

Yeah high baffle Dukoff (D8?)anyway he got the same sound in the 70's when
he played that white plastic(damn the name eludes me thus proving once again
that you forget more than you learned)-anyone know what they're called??

Wasn't it a metal Brilhardt that he used to play?

Nope.......white plastic(?)Brillhart Level Air-forgot that one,cheers,now
why is it that the Dukoff got all the praise when the "sanborn" sound
emanated(mostly from Mr Sanborn of course) via the Brillhart-played at one
stage by Charlie Parker amongst other luminaries.

This is true with lots of players. Sonny Rollins has played on a variety
of metal and hard rubber mouthpieces. Michael Brecker loved to play on
Otto Links (so I've read) but used Dukoff for a long time before going to
the Guardala.

I've often noticed that I sound pretty much the same regardless of the
mouthpiece. It's mostly what feels right to me.

I took one lesson with Brandon Fields about 15 years ago. He picked up my
horn, and -yup- he sounded like Brandon. Frustrating to know at times that
it ain't the equipment, huh?...

Sanborn played a Brilhart Level Air alto mouthpiece in the 1970's. Check
out Bowie's Young Americans album and Joe Beck's album with Mr. Sanborn
playing on it for his 70's sound.
