Hello,

I was hoping someone out there might know something about what is
turning ouu to be a somewhat obscure sax.

I recently acquired a "Severin" alto saxophone that has a few people
puzzled, including me.

It bears the logo of a Yanagisawa, and the serial number 376,xxx (so it
seems a few were produced).

The quality, feel and the sound are quite good and I am interested in
finding out some historical information about this sax.

If you are aware of this model, perhaps you can try and answer one or
more of my questions, or reply with the name of another contact that
might be able to help me out.

Is it a truly a Yanagisawa saxophone?

Would it be a student or pro model?

What year would it have been produced?

It seems to be modeled (stenciled?) after a Selmer Mark VI, is this so?
(There were probably lots of other companies doing this as well.)

What would the original value have been and how much would it
be worth now in very good condition?

Are parts still available for this model? (i.e. - Eb key guard)

Thanks in advance for your time and any help you might be able to
provide.

Best Regards,

Brian Vallee

I've never heard of Severin but I have an Astro alto with the Yanagisawa
emblem.I too am curious about this horn.It is also modeled after a mark
vi,however the side b flat is one piece,not a forked key.And no
articulated g sharp, though this could easily be modified. Is yours
similar? The tone is good, similar to my vi.
