John Lennon - Imagine (borrowed from a friend. Its pretty good, a few
really amazing tracks)
Splender - Halfway Down the Sky (My fun cd, about the only cd I have
that doesn't depress me)
Eric Clapton - The Cream of Clapton (also borrowed from the friend. I
had no idea he did so many songs that I liked)
Dido - No Angel (I was listening to it non-stop until a weekago and
then my friend borrowed it. I wish I had it back though, I want to
hear the songs even more after the concert)
Better than Ezra - Artifakt (new BTE! go to www.betterthanezra.com to
order. Amazing rare songs as well as an awesome cover of "Use Me")
REM - Up (One of my very favorite cds. It'd be one of my favorites
only for "Walk Unafraid" but ever song is great)
Smashing Pumpkins - Best of 1991 - 1998 (Promo cd, definetely pick it
up if you see it.)
I guess that's it currently. Your turn.

want the track listing?)
Moodswings - Moodfood
Euphoria II (disc 2)
-Lemurman-
Sukia - Contacto Espacial con el Tercer Sexo (I wonder if I spelled it
right. This is really good music to put you in the, ahem, mood if you know
what I mean. Slow grooves)
Goth's Undead (this is a compilation, my favorites are songs by
Switchblade Symphony, Element and Mantra, unfortunately these are
intermixed with some less enjoyable artists, I don't know about the
Electric Hellfire Club, somebody here will probably love them :) just
dark, sinister stuff on these Cd's)
umm embarrassingly enough Pink or should I say P!nk - Can't Take Me Home
(I really like Split Personality, Love Is Such A Crazy Thing and um Most
Girls. Ok someone slap me now)
Wild Strawberries - Quiver (because everybody was talking about them in
the NG I pulled out the CD and I haven't gotten around to putting it up :)
others: Stevie Nicks Enchanted box set, Best Of Townes Van Zandt, Dot
Allison Afterglow...and Rasputina both How We Quit The Forest and Thanks

Well, here's my list:
Barenaked Ladies -- Pretty much every disc since I met them at Mixfest and
I'm seeing them for NYE (In one of the first *four* rows I might add).
But Maroon hasn't left my spinner since it was released.
Fiona Apple -- "Tidal". I love this CD. Never is a Promise is what
prompted me to buy it, but the whole thing just flows. I haven't found a
CD that flows as well as FTE, but I'd say this is a good second.
I'm in agreement... Dido's No Angel. I love "Hunter".
Lisa Loeb -- she ROCKED at Mixfest. I love her voice, the way she can
sound so sweet and innocent, and then so empowered.
Sarah Harmer -- for those who haven't heard of her, check her out!!!
There have been other random discs, but those are mostly what I've
listened to.

Politics is the entertainment branch of big business.
In the car:
La Femme Nikita Soundtrack (Awesome driving music)
Sundays - Static and Silence (This is my night driving music. Very mellow)
My own weird techno mix (I have found techno to be the best thing while
driving.)
A second weird techno mix
Trancemission From Raveland (2nd disc. The first is ok, but the tracks sound
too similiar for my taste)
Digital Empire 3: Phuturism
Esthero - Breath From Another (I *love* this CD!)
At home:
Dido - No Angel (This will probably go down as one of my top all time favorite
CD's. One of a short list that I would immediately replace if anything ever
happened to it.)
Cruel Intentions Soundtrack
Sade - Best of.... (*sigh* A genius. A beautiful, talented, amazing,
goddess-like genius. ;) I will be buying the new disc tomorrow as well.)
Portishead - PNYC (Gotta agree with a previous post, AWESOME group!)
Morcheeba - Fragments of Freedom (The best band, *ever*! =)
Other than that, I'm pretty sick of all my old CD's, so I've been downloading
tons of MP3's lately, which has led to the future purchase of about 20 CD's.
Anyhoo, side note here, I was kinda surprised to find out that Dido's brother
is a part of the group Faithless. I didn't know anything about them except for
their song, "Addictive", on the Cruel Intentions soundtrack, which I love.
Anyhoo, I downloaded another last night ("If Lovin' You Is Wrong" from the
Forces of Nature soundtrack), and I really love their style. And the
aforementioned song is actually pretty...well...nasty, as far as the lyrics go
(lol), but it's kinda funny and one of those songs you know you shouldn't be
listening to but you can't help yourself. ;) Anyway, check them out, especially
if you like Dido's sound.

Gosh, what a coincidence. I just bought Reverence by Faithless and
listened to it
for the very first time today. If Lovin' You Is Wrong is kinda
naughty..."I'm a
sexual animal, eat you like a cannibal, crammed full of energy. I'm
inflammable"
haha umm gets a little worse even doesn't it?
Dido has main vocals on track 8, called Flowerstand Man. It's absolutely
gorgeous.
You listen to such cool music Erin :) I have almost all the CD's you
listed but I
always listen to recommendations from you.

I have it. Very good CD
Yeah, it gets pretty terrible. (My personal fave has to be the "I swear you
look wicked.." and "Like a pound of self-raisin...'" lines! lol!) But how can
you resist a backbeat like that one? ;) And there is something about the guys
voice that I just like. Would you happen to know who does the male vocals? Have
you noticed though how (at least, with the stuff I've heard) they make really
good...*ahem*... type music? It all seems to have these cool driving beats and
there's always some dirty aspect to it. I'm definitely going to have to look
into buying some of their stuff. =)

Thank you! =) I have to say the same goes for me. I always check out the stuff

And thanks to EsotericGrrrl on the well wishes. The one we were mainly worried

Penny, by all means get the album! I would say that those two songs are not
the best on the album by a long shot. Also, if you get the chance to see them
LIVE, do it. They put on a great show.
btw, here is what is in my cd player:
U2- All That You Can't Leave Behind-I have to listen to it more. Beautiful Day
is the closest to a "rocking" song on the album. Bono describes the album as
"titanium soul." Some day, I might figure out exactly what the hell that is
and enjoy the album more
Jann Arden - Blood Red Cherry
Various Counting Crows bootlegs
Trans-Siberian Orchestra- Beethoven's Last Night
um, Third Eye Blind - Blue

Male vocals on that song are by Maxi Jazz (The grand oral disseminator). There is a
bio about him (and the three other members of Faithless) inside the CD booklet. But
really it just tells where he's DJ'd, who he's toured with and how his Buddhist
beliefs have influenced him...

Yeah, good "ahem" type music haha. :) You should have a listen to Sukia too, who I
mentioned recently. Not many vocals but the same kind of driving beats and a well
placed noise here and there. Speaking of this..do you ever listen to the Lords of
Acid? Now that is naughty music! They are straight out blatantly baaad. Of course
they are not even near similar to Faithless. They are like acid house dance music
with raunchy lyrics but you can't take it seriously. The cover of Voodoo-U is worse
than a Rob Zombie album ;)

Let's see, gosh I seriously need some new music too! If you have not already..check
out Alpha's ComeFromHeaven (Massive Attack obviously liked em because they signed
them to their label Melankolic) also Dot Allison (who was with One Dove), Laika,
Jhelisa, Snowpony, DJ Rap, and Lionrock...
Let me know what you think! And recommend more to me, please! :)
Here's mine:
1- Madonna: Music
It's been on my playlist for a long time. I'm still loving it! It's
inspired me to finally get the CD of Like a Prayer (I only had the tape
before), and the 14 track version of Erotica - one of her best albums.
2- Wild Stawberries: Heroine
My friend Megan did the makeup for there lastest video, and it reminded me
that I used to like them, so I went out and got a used copy of Heroine. I
love it!
3- Tom Petty: Full Moon Fever
I remember this album from when I was younger, my brother listened to it all
the time. It's a classic. A Face in the Crowd is my favourite Tom Petty
song. It's on right now!
4- Sarah McLachlan: Radio Friendly
A CD-R with all of her single releases, like a greatest hits album.
5- Wes: Welenga
Does anyone else have this?? It's like Deep Forest meets African tribal
chants (because that's basically what it is), really cool music with some
great beats.
I can't wait for the new Delerium album. I'm sure that'll take over Madonna
soon.
Does anyone have the new Sade CD??
Later!

"Under a Blood Red Sky" is probably one of the best live
albums out there. "All That You Can't Leave Behind" is
growing on me, kinda reminds me of "The Unforgettable Fire."

I absolutly loved that movie! My favorite of the year so far
(followed by another movie that heavily involves music, "High
Fidelity".) And Kate hudson has that incredible smile.
*sigh* The soundtrack is excellent as well.

All That You can't Leave Behind; The Unforgettable Fire by U2 -
Yet another stylistic change that's starting to grow on
me. "Walk On" is just stunning. Kinda reminds me of TUF
which got me listening to it again.
Who's Next by The Who - One of the great classic rock albums.
Darkness on the Edge of Town by Bruce Springsteen - Not only is
The Boss a rock 'n roll god, track eight shows he's a car
guy!
Return of Saturn by No Doubt - Probably one of the best girl
fronted rock bands right now.
Almost Famous Soundtrack - I love the movie, love the
soundtrack. "Simple Man" by Lynard Skynard is outstanding.
Document by REM - Kinda reaquainting myself with this band and
now I remember how good a band they are.
Saved; Freewheelin Bob Dylan by Bob Dylan - I love "Blowing in
the Wind." Saved is a solid, fascinating album of when
he's going through his "Christian phase." Dylan, along
with the Boss, have convinced me that the harmonica is a
tragically underutilized instrument of rock music.
LA Woman by The Doors - If I had this album (along with as
"Dark Side of the Moon" by Pink floyd) back in high school
I would have gotten so laid... ok ok I'm kidding.

Bob Dylan was quoted describing his "Blonde on Blonde" as "wild,

meaning but it's both perfectly accurate makes perfect sense
when describing the music.
I hope that helps ;)

Maxi Jazz....thanks! I wonder where on earth he's from. I can't place his

ROFL! No kidding! They're *awful*! And I've only heard bits and pieces of a

Alright, thanks! I'll look all those up as well! The only one I'm familiar
with is DJ Rap. I love getting hooked on new music. =)
>Let me know what you think! And recommend more to me, please! :)
Hmmm....let's see. Well, in the vain of good *ahem* music, check out Funki
Porcini's "Hed Phone Sex". It's a double set with the second disc being
remixes. Very nice instrumental jazzish sound, with the occasional bits of
sounds and dialouge thrown in. Of course, any and all Engima. Probably the best
song on earth to "get it on" to would be Enigma's "Almost Full Moon". Beautiful
stuff! Oh, a new one I just ran across is the Jazzyfatnastees. Weird name I
know, but they're amazing R&Bish jazz. Check out the song "Unconventional
Ways". It'll hook ya. =) Also, David Gray. His song "Babylon II" is awesome,
and so is everything else he's done! Other than that, I've mostly been
listening to Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Heart, Led Zepplin (sp? I never get that
right), stuff from my childhood. And I'm obsessed with that Ludacris song,
"What's Your Fantasy". It's probably worse than any Faithless. ;) heheh
Erin. :o)
...."If you like it in the club, we can do it in the DJ booth or in the back of
the VIP..." - The tamest line from "What's Your Fantasy". LOL!
>So its safe to say that a lot of us probably haven't been listening to
>much Sarah. Or atleast I know I haven't. So what have you been
>listening to? Here's my list:
Tori Amos - From the Choir Girl Hotel. After FTE, this will forever
be in my cd player.
Loreena McKennitt - Live from Toronto and Paris. A bit like a
greatest hits except it's live.
Dido - No Angel. It's damn good.
Indigo Girls - Retrospectives. It's good especially Ghost.
Sarah McLachlan - Mirrorball DVD. It's much better than the
Mirrorball CD.
Speaking of DVDs. Anyone know why the Sting - Brand New Day Tour DVD
isn't the same as his normal set on the BNDT? It's only 18 tracks and
a lot of the songs played (ie. Fields of Gold and All this Time)
weren't on the DVD. I checked on the Sting concert review website,
those two songs are played on the BNDT.
Erotica: 1992....it may be 8 years old...but it's still damn further ahead
than a lot of music is today...and probably Madonna's most courageous and
"perfect" album yet. Completely under appreciated and filled with some of the
most compelling beats i've ever heard. I just can't seem to get it out of my
cd player...and now that i'm working out at the gym, it seems to want to stay
there ;)

Definitely has an English accent. It mentions living in London in his

as you guessed.

Thank you! I'll start downloading em right away, and probably be looking
out to buy em :) You know I still listen to Fleetwood Mac (with Peter
Green even), Led Zeppelin and the rest. I "grew up" listening to them
too. Although they were still a bit before my time. But great music is
timeless!
Hey check out the Solar Twins, I just heard of them last night.

Oh my gosh, my parents were exactly the same. My mom was into the "lighter" side of
70's rock, and my dad was the Alice Cooper, Bob Seger, Led Zeppelin one. I went
through phases listening to all their old records, at one time Dark Side Of The
Moon, at another time, Summertime Dream by Gordon Lightfoot. It is amazing! We do
have a lot in common. For me the 80's were good, but only certain songs stand out,
moreso than complete albums (one of my favorites is Bette Davis Eyes). And by the
time I did finally get heavily into bands that played during the 80's (such as the
Cure) then I was much older. :)

Yup, Feria is the best. I've also used Garnier Color Masque in Deep Burgandy. But
Feria has a shimmer to it. My natural color has some auburn to it but not nearly as
much as I would like.

classical, opera, reggae, everything. What an awesome time for music that was!
I would give just about anything to have grown up then. Although, I did like
the 80's. =)
>Hey check out the Solar Twins, I just heard of them last night.
>Female/male electronic duo. Beauuutiful vocals from what I've heard.
Oooo, will do. BTW, I got to download some stuff you recommended last night,
and I'm in love with Dot Allison! I d/led "Did I Imagine You". What a gorgeous
song! It has a cool Sinead O'Connor vibe to it. Oh, and have you ever
checked out Supreme Beings of Leisure? Forgot to mention them, they're awesome
as well!
>Stacy (who just re-colored her hair "Black Cherry" mmmmm)
heheh A fellow Feria freak? =) I've started using that Loreal Revitalique
(sp??) in Bold Burgandy. Although, I've decided not to color my hair for
awhile. Surprisingly enough, my natural color seems to have gained some red, so
I'm happy.
BTW, are you on ICQ by any chance? My number is 69953782 if you wanna chat
sometime. We seem to have quite a lot in common. =)

Daily Advice: Never buy a Kia. =)
ROFL! I know just how you feel! Whenever I put any Lords of Acid stuff on mixes
for friends, I usually end up changing the name a little, just in case. =)

I haven't heard much Rob Zombie, but I have liked what little I did. I need to
check out some more of his stuff.
>I also like hearing Erin and you talk music cause I happen to like
>those driving beats =)
That's because you have awesome taste in music Pennie! =) You always have
great recommendations too.
Erin. :o)
...Anybody else seen that movie, "Addicted to Love"? It's on at the moment and
it's hysterical!!
Me too!! I was always mostly into my Mom's stuff, and now I wish I would have
paid a little more attention to my Dad's collection before my Mom got rid of
all the records. About the only thing I wasn't brought up with was country, but
living in Texas has provided that. While I'm not big into country, I do like
old Faith Hill, LeeAnn Womack, that sorta stuff.
>It is amazing! We do
>have a lot in common.
No kidding! I bet we more or less have the same CD collection! =)
>For me the 80's were good, but only certain songs stand out,

Yeah, I'm pretty much the same. Now that I'm older, I'm hooked on 80's new
wave. At the time, I was always into the cheesy dance music. Although, I did
manage to totally ruin both the record and two tapes of the Labyrinth
soundtrack. =) Thank goodness for MP3's.
>Noo never, but I will now!
I know I've got some others. I'll havta go thru my CD's tonight and make a list
for ya. =)
>Yup, Feria is the best. I've also used Garnier Color Masque in Deep Burgandy.
>But
>Feria has a shimmer to it. My natural color has some auburn to it but not

Eeee, I tried Garnier once because, according to my Mom, "It won't burn at
all!". My scalp hurt for two weeks afterwards. I do agree though, Feria has
this cool shimmer that lasts.
>My ICQ # is 15493621 though I don't sign on that much. I do use AOL IM more

Okiedokie. I'm really not on ICQ that much anymore either. My AOL IM name is
NEXRADGirl41. Give me a shout sometime!
>Oh yah, if you ever desperately want to hear a song from someone I mentioned,
>I
>will rip it and you can get it off napster from me...I should be getting a

Ok, thanks! I'm on Napster usually after 7pm or so most nights, and my
username is TeknoPhonik, so feel free to go thru my little collection. I'm not
too great at ripping tracks just yet, but I can always give it a shot if you
wanna hear something.

...who just found her prom dress! Woohoo! Ok, so the pattern is actually a
Renaissance style wedding dress, but hey. It's gorgeous! =)
I haven't posted on here in a while... my Outlook Express was not working
for awhile. Anyway, I always love these polls because I rotate my CDs all
the time!
Dido - No Angel. Dido is my second favorite artist, next to Sarah. I
honestly didn't think that anyone could ever replace my Sarah, but Dido
has...almost. I still think Sarah's music touches me more than Dido's...but
at least I have some artist to obsess about (not totally obsess like
stalking) until Sarah releases her next album!
BT - Movement in Still Life. My brother constantly played ESCM (I think
that's what it's called) by BT for years and I never got into it. The day
he bought Movement in Still Life and played it in the car, I immediately
fell in love with his music...not just Shame and Satellite, the two acoustic
songs on the album, but also his other trancey stuff
Depeche Mode - Violator. I stole this CD from my cousin's house 4 years ago
and I only listened to it once and I thought it sucked...really bad...then
this weekend, my friends came over and told me to play the album and I was
reluctant at first because I hated it the first time. Then I put it on and
realized that this album was absolutely fabulous! Depeche Mode rocks!
Wallflowers - (Breach). I've been in love with the Wallflowers, even before
I fell in love with Sarah McLachlan. I think this CD is much better than
Bringing Down the Horse. I'm going to see them this Friday so I've been
playing them on heavy rotation.
The Corrs - In Blue; I think this is one of the only CDs I own that are
truely upbeat. I love listening to this in the car. My favorite song off
that disc is Radio (I think that's what it's called).
CDs-I-gave-a-rest-on-because-I-didn't-want-to-ever-get-sick-of:
Travis - The Man Who
Tara MacLean - Passenger
Chantal Kreviazuk - Colour, Moving, and Still
and all of Sarah McLachlan's discs

Entirely not related to the message I'm replying to, but No Name Face by
Lifehouse rules. I love the CD. For people that want a sample of how
good they are, look on Napster (or alternate MP3 places if you are
anti-napster) for the song Everything. I'm in love with this band, and
I've only had the CD for 2 days
Ooh!!! I would like to see all that! I used to try to collect madonna
things when I was Really young, like in Grade 5! I ended up with about 16
tapes and a few books, pretty impressive for a 10 year old with no money.
The Erotica CD I got just has "Did you Do it" (some rappers interpretation
of Waiting) as an extra track, before Secret Garden, and I think the
*bleeps* are gone too.
> >3- Tom Petty: Full Moon Fever

I wish I knew. I'm the same way though - I've been listening to it, but
it's not my CD! I borrowed it from my friend, and it'll be a while before
she get's it back! There must be a Tom Petty / Heartbreakers box set
somewhere, he's got enough material for one!
> >4- Sarah McLachlan: Radio Friendly
> Oh man, I've got so many of Sarah's cdr's, but I'm not even sure I
> have this one.
It's got all of the radio versions of her singles, including the Path of
Thorns remix (my fave), As the End Draws Near, What Lies Beyond, and the '88
Vox. Whenever I don't have the time to listen to a lot of Sarah, but want a
wide selection, I put this on.

Keep your eyes open! The CD is from 1996 (from Europe) and reprinted for
the US / Canada in '98. I really enjoy it, very wold-music like. I'll see
if I can make some MP3's of some of the tracks if you'd like. Here's a link
to CDNow's page for the CD, there's a few sound clips there:
