Does anybody have any information whatsoever (Ticket Stub, Newspaper
Review, Advertisement, Handbill, Photo, etc.) of the Rush/Lynyrd Skynyrd
show on 20 December 1976. This was 'the only' show Rush ever opened for
Skynyrd. Any information on this particular show is greatly appreciated.
Also, did anybody on AMR happen to attend this particular show? Thank you.

The majority of AMR had not been *born* at that date.

I thought Rush opened for Kiss also in 1975 and the Beginning of 76?

I had a ticket for Lynyrd Skynyrd (headliner) with Rush (opener), but
I'm certain it was late 1977 or early 1978 because it was my first year
of college. It was at Cincinnati's Riverfront Coliseum (now Cinergy
Field). I actually sold the ticket because a few weeks before the
concert, the opening act changed. Why it changed, I don't know. Not
that I didn't want to see Skynyrd at that time, but I really wanted to
see Rush again. That was the motivating factor in buying the ticket in
the first place. I had only seen Rush twice up until then, and decided
to sell my ticket when they were no longer on the bill. Not too long
after that date it hit the news that Skynyrd's plane had gone down. I
regretted selling the ticket at that time, as I do now.

For Cincinnati's Riverfront Coliseum during that era, it looked like this:

3/4/77 Starcastle/Rush/Boston
5/2/78 The Sweet/Rush

The 12/20/76 show in Tennessee was the only time Rush ever opened for
Lynyrd Skynyrd ever. I'm looking for 'any' information on this one
historic show. I live in L.S.'s hometown and at the 'Freebird Cafe' (owned
and ran by Ronnie Vant Zants wife and daughter) there is a schedule of all
Skynyrd shows, that shows 12/20/76 was the only time Rush 'ever' shared the
same stage.

Christopher, you're right. Riverfront *Stadium* is now Cinergy (I
can't believe I got that mixed up with the Coliseum -- I've been to
both many times).

Linda, my reason for posting was to say that Rush *was scheduled* to
open for Skynyrd, not that they actually *did open*. The bill/line-up
changed after the initial announcement of the concert and subsequent
advertisements, yet prior to the concert date itself. I never said
that Rush actually opened for LS. I don't know if Rush wanted out
(doubtful) or needed to change because of some other scheduling
difficulties prior to, or after that particular date (probable). Or
maybe Skynyrd wanted them off the bill or wanted some other band on
more than Rush. I did have a ticket that said "Lynyrd Skynyrd/Rush".
The tickets, of course, were to be honored at the gate. Sooooo, there
were/are ads, tickets/stubs, etc. out there. Unfortunately, the
combination of the bands in question did not come to be in Cincinnati.
Sorry to delay or sidetrack your quest for all things Rush.

Also, Linda, I too know what bands played on whatever tour in
Cincinnati as I have access to the concert date/band database just like
everyone else here. Plus, I have never missed any Rush date in
Cincinnati, Dayton, or Columbus (Rush concert tally -- 41 and still
counting), so I already knew "who played when". I now know firsthand
why your posts are snubbed so quickly.

I apologize to everyone else for this lengthy post.

Sorry about the mis-interpitation on your post. I bet you wish you still
had that Rare Ticket, eh. Especially when the Ticket said Lynyrd
Skynyrd/Rush and they changed bands. I'm still trying to find information
on that Clarksville TN.show. I havn't heard of anyone that's seen this
particular show. Like a needle in a haystack. Thanks for the information
and again, sorry bout' the mix-up. Keep it burning bright!

Linda -- Thanks. Hope you find someone out there with some info on the
LS/Rush show. I had no idea it was such a rarity. I had assumed that
since that line-up was scheduled in Cincinnati that it was the same for
at least a few other cities. Again, I'm certain this was late 1977 or
early 1978. Maybe LS and Rush's tour paths just happened to cross
then, but usually two bands of that stature (at that point LS
definately being the bigger draw) don't do one-off shows. Also, I have
absolutely no idea why Rush was off the bill. I wanted to see Rush so
badly that once they announced that someone else (I cannot think of who
it was for the life of me) was the opening act, I sold my ticket. And
now that I think about it, the concert could have been slated for
Columbus as easily as Cincinnati. I am certain about the time frame,
though. I went to college just outside of Columbus. At the time, my
parents lived in a small town between Columbus, Cincinnati, and Dayton,
so I frequented concerts in all three cities. Maybe you could cross
reference this with the LS tour date list you spoke of. As you stated,
Rush would not be listed but LS played one (or more) of those three
cities late '77 to early '78. Let me know (either here or by e-mail)
when, where, and who opened if you get the chance. I hadn't thought
about selling that ticket for a long time, until your initial post.
This is bugging me now.

Alright, douchebag, here goes. First off, Trioxin5 indicates that there are
4 others before you. That is an unfortunate development of evolution, but
nature has a way of correcting it's mistakes. Perhaps it will do away with
you by giving you an...er...aversion to...uh...reproduction--I don't know
and I don't care. The Egg, Paul, and many others here have more class in
their worst moment than you will have in your best--again, that's nature's
mysteries at work. Deal with it.

With respect toward your net time, you got all snivelly and pissy because
you and Doogie did your damnedest to make 'The Ultimate Rush Page' and it
showed, yet wasn't lauded. Had you put your considerable powers of myopia
in to your school work perhaps spelling and grammar structure would show as
well. Had you spent some time away from the computer your social skills
might also be a somewhat more developed. That is not a subject that you
should spend too much time pointing fingers about.

Now, once again, you are coming in to AMR and getting your knickers all
knotted up because you don't feel that some of the regulars here fit your
mold. They are just too damn individual and freethinking seems to be the
battle cry here. If they cross your personal boundary you make every
attempt your stunted social skills can muster to 'hurt their feelings'. It
doesn't seem to be working for you, so you might want to investigate other
approaches. Oh...and watching The Bowerey Boys meet Dracula for the
fifteenth time while you stew on it isn't what I am suggesting.

Quick...call an attorney, you whiney little bitch. Better yet, come back
here and call everybody a bunch of losers, grab your toys, and go home.
Maybe there is something good on the Sci-Fi channel. I eagerly await your
pride getting all puffed up so that you respond and prove every point made
hereinabove. Come on...quick...while we still have a full moon.

Who's doing the "molding"? Relax. You don't have to bust a chub waiting for me

People should demonstrate class constantly, it sets a good example for
others... also... if you find it difficult to demonstrate class, isn't that
just a sign that you don't do it often? I suppose that means that if you
don't demonstrate class often, and find it difficult when you do try, that
you are inherently a being without class at all...

Whenever you can't think of a good come-back, you whine about how 'everyone'
slams you for spelling/grammar... well as I pointed out quite a while ago, I
correct everyone's grammar, whenever I feel like correcting it... spelling
too, dammit! (see my note to the prof if you don't believe me, and he's a
person I don't slam, because he has a brain, and other nice things)

Go away. Adult education classes (assuming you're out of high school) are
pretty cheap, take some and learn to spell. People take you seriously if you
present your arguements in a logical, well thought out, and easy to
understand manner.

A parody is a joke based on something. It is not a copy. Satire works in the
same way. If you can't understand that parody can be individual, what the
hell do you call Black Adder? (Personally I call it one of the most
individual, entertaining, and funny satires I've ever seen)

Refer to my ass, which is about the same reasoning level as your 'paragraph
2'.

Hmm... feedback from interesting people... Dahmer was interesting... but I
certainly wouldn't want some of his feedback...

> you guys think. We're trying to make you more enlightened about what this

Who is included in this 'you guys'? Everyone who reads AMR? I'm assuming
that's what you meant... well, sorry, there are quite a few rush fans who go
here, who have absolutely nothing to do with you or Lerxst, or even this
whole argument... Don't care, huh? Sounds familiar... in fact, it reminds me
about a certain person posting msg's equivalating to 'rush doesn't care',
and a certain *coughNyarlcough* person mentioning something about
'projection of own emotions upon others'...

> newsgroup is about-Rush...not eggs, not beeswax.

Ok, so where's the new rush news, brain dead? Better yet, where were you
when I asked for everyone's opinion on Counterparts, while trying to steer a
thread back on topic? I don't see your post there... quit bitching about off
topic crap, and post some that's on topic yourself, or at least reply to
someone who tries ;P

> Bowery Boys marathon you've been dreaming about.

Who? This must be some american thing... who the fuck are the bowery boys?
and more importantly, if I shot them and used their dead carcasses to beat
you to a bloody pulp, would anyone care?

Coming from the local elementary school drop-out, that's a real insult. ;P

My entertaining spams... Hmm... Here's a list of the most entertaining
threads that pop into my head at 2 am from the last little while... Good vs.
Evil troll hunt (to which I'm about to go off onto a tangent of my own,
simply cause everyone else seems to have stopped posting to it), the capital
punishment debate, and the occasional small thread. So I'm to understand
that you were responsible for these? Heh. Get a clue, we don't want you not
because we hate your sorry ass, but because you whine worse than by baby
brother (and he whines so bad I have a tendency to go outside and knock down
a tree or two). If something bothers you, do something about it, don't
whine, and if all else fails, KF the people or mark the thread read ;P

Same time we get over the Mozart crap.

Or what? What are you going to do, clown? Stop coming here? Why....it'd
be a Christmas dream. You don't get it, do you? Much like the band's
response to your web page, we are not interested in you. Now, since the
band completely ignored you and your efforts does that make them Ghetto?
Wait...it does! RUSH IS GHETTO!

'Ut'? Dude, your nerves must really have mis-fired when you went to type
that one. Oh, and one thing I have noticed about the labrynth that is your
particular level of idiocy. There is plenty of stuff to bitch about. The
spelling seems to be the one that you could most easily correct.

WHAT? Are you a complete idiot? Oh my God! You really are spun. I just
lost interest in finishing my well thought out, humorous, and irreverent
reply. Instead...I smell fodder for a new thread.....

Quoting Shakespeare again, Ellen? It has GOT to stop someday?
(for all you Americans; I'm not being too serious here, just a feeble
attempt at sarcasm which seems quite difficult for you guys and gals to get
a grip on)

I never knew that Rush opened for Skynyrd but that's totally cool
that they did because they are two of my favorite bands of all time.
What's odd about it is that they are both so different and there's
probably a lot of fans of both bands that don't like one or the other
but I happen to be a huge fan of both bands.
