Ok, this one is a bit easier - or harder - seeing as there seem to be so
many Rush songs that have a positive vibe.

But pick of the bunch for me has to be Mission - a truly inspiring song.

I have 2 songs...YYZ and Spirit of the Radio. When I hear those I feel like I
can lift a house. I usually include those songs on one of my tapes that I
listen to at the gym.

I think I'll reserve judgment of *the* most positive-vibing song *ever*, but
the following are certainly good candidates to argue about: ;-)

Cinderella Man
La Villa Strangiato
Free Will
Part III of Natural Science
Red Barchetta
The Analog Kid
New World Man
Countdown
Grand Designs
Marathon
Emotion Detector
Time Stand Still
Mission
Presto
Available Light
Bravado
Animate
Between Sun and Moon
Dog Years (quit yer snickering, dammit!)
Resist
Carve Away the Stone

I'm so happy people are asking these fun questions lately (Neil's

Grand Designs.
Every time this song comes on my stereo, I have to smile. "We break the surface
tension with our wild kinetic dreams." Also, honorable mentions to Presto and
Red Barchetta.

For me, it's actually most of Power Windows. :) Grand Designs, Emotion
Detector, Marathon; but for the most uplifting, I have to agree with...

MISSION!!!!

I think most of HYF is quite uplifting. But I think Analog Kid, Spirit of
radio or Red Barchetta would be the most uplifting song for me. Hard to say
though, I don't need to be uplifted that often. And when I'm somewhat
depressed, I'd rather listen to Tool.

Most of these responses I agree with, but one I haven't see is Available
Light. Although the music is not super boyant, the lyrics are very bright
and seem to be an appreciation of all life.

You nailed it! Available Light always does it for me. Even though it's
probably not one of my overall favorites, it always moves me.

Why hasn't anyone named Dreamline yet? It's a great song, both the lyrics
and the music. One of my all-time favorites

Definately has to be "Time Stand Still" for me.
No question about it.

really?
it kinda makes me sad and nostalgic
i love it, but I don't find it very uplifting.

Marathon does it for me - especially the modulations at the end.

Maybe the question (Most Uplifting Rush Song Ever?)
should be broken up into two categories:

a/. Musically
b/. Lyrically

See, cos I'm talking Lyrically.

Time Stand Still
Mission
The Pass
Available Light
Roll The Bones etc etc

These songs make me feel sorry for anyone who's not a Rush fan.
I never get tired of hearing them.

Musically:
I love the instrumentals
I Love Countdown
I Love Losing It (Like the lyrics too)
I Love Afterimage.

So, I think we should start all over and ask the question again.

Prime mover never fails to cheer me up. The lyrics are full
of possibility, and the music is so evocative, especially
the arpeggios at the beginning, and the "I set the wheels in
motion.." middle eight. Everyday glory has a very uplifting
sentiment in the final chorus, and I would have to agree
with Dreamline and Mystic Rhythms too. Dreamline has the
magic moment, when the song explodes with "We are young..",
whereas Mystic Rhythms always sends a shiver down my spine
in the chorus - "Under city lights or a canopy of stars"
brings a tear to the eye...

Hmm, I love Losing It as well, but I've never seen it as an uplifting
song... it's great, but it's a very sad song, in my opinion, both lyrically
and musically.

- Dark, who seems to be anti-lurking at the moment

I find it uplifting because it says:
sadder still to watch it die than never to have known it

I dunno, I still find it uplifting, in spite of its sadness

Oh, and by the way Snoop... What was I thinking!??!
OF COURSE: Analog Kid!!!

What a great f&@king song!

Agreed, very stirring and uplifting when the electric guitar kicks in.
