WTF?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091215/ap_en_mu/us_rock_hall_inductees

Is Genesis the first "Progressive", "Rock" band to be nominated? These
morons pick Madonna and disco acts as nominees over bands like Rush.
What a joke.

I take it as a given that the RRHoF has a really loose definition of what
rock music is. If they didn't the hall would be pretty "vanilla" if you
know what I mean. And we can't have that.

Based on popularity, sales and influence I'd say ABBA is the most
deserving act of that whole lot. Jimmy Cliff?!? The Hollies?

BTW, this are not just nominees. They have been elected.

The Professor (yay for Genesis!)

It's just the name of the fucking hall that rankles. No matter how
well written and how tastefully arranged, pop is not rock dammit! ;)

I agree. It's the "Rock and Roll" hall of fame - Not the 70s Disco Diva
Hall of Fame...

What's next? Libby's Space Monsters have a higher chance than Rush to
get into the RRHoF.

Wouldn't Pink Floyd be considered "Progressive"? They were inducted
long ago.

Judist?? :)

If we're talking progressive.. why isn't ELP in there? Would you really put Crue in?? Talk about derivative.
