The look upon his face was that he had been waiting a long time to
meet me. He's responsible for getting Chom Som Cho into America,
giving him a place to go & getting through government red tape. Peter
is/was a Green Beret.
Peter offered to Won-yun "I'll sell you my school, why don't you ask
Mark if he wants to move to Florida and you can train him".
At that time I didn't want to goto Florida, so I didn't and Won wasn't
interested.
Peter mastered all the arts mentioned, and told me personally
"everything I learned regarding the other arts I mastered, and what I
learned from Quan Jun Knim beat it all. Anything I learned from the
others I tried fight Ji Do Kwan TKD, it was useless, Ji Do Kwan is
superior, I fought one of Quan Jun Knims yellow belts when I was a 1st
Dan from karate, he knocked me down every time I tried to close on
him. Because of that I threw everything aside and begged Quan Jun Knim
to teach me".

The History of
Grand Master Peter Lee
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Peter Lee with formal title Grand Master in the Art and Science of Tae
Kwon Do and related Martial Arts has been training in various martial
arts since 1958.
Born in Hamburg, Germany in the end of W.W.II in 1943, he lost his
real father at three years old in the war and was raised by his mother
and step father. Soon after the war the family immigrated to Sydney,
Australia where they became naturalized citizens.
There he learned English up to the sixth grade in the Australian
English school system. At the age of twelve he immigrated again with
his parents to Bronx, New York. In 1958 after much abuse from
neighborhood bullies he joined his first Karate school with Matsu
Tutsu Oyama Jr. a Kyokushinkai Japanese style.
During his middle and High school years he was obsessed with bicycle
racing and speed skating, riding six to eight hours per day winning
hundreds of championships and awards while learning the value of
perseverance and good eating habits.
This intense training (100 miles per day) made it possible for him to
qualify and make the Olympic trials in Central Park, New York in 1963
at the age of nineteen. He graduated from De Witt Clinton High School
Bronx, New York in the same year.
He was selected for the U.S. Army in 1963 while the draft laws were in
effect. Volunteering to be a paratrooper he was accepted for jump
school training in Ft. Benning, Ga. and Ft. Bragg, N.C. after ranger
school he had orders for Okinawa and Vietnam. While in Okinawa and
stationed in camp Kubaski he found several karate and judo schools to
train under, one particular in Shori City called Shori-kan.
By now he had made sergeant and had become a U.S. naturalized citizen
while serving in Vietnam in the 173rd air-born brigade attached to a
Special Forces Team (Green Beret).
Martial art's fascinated him and he trained with the Korean Tiger
Battalion practicing tae kwon do when time allowed. He credits
survival in Vietnam as partly contributed to his martial art's
training and background.
Realizing the chance of a lifetime being stationed in the far east the
quest for martial art instructor and style had begun.Volunteering for
isolated tours of duty and re-enlisting found that it guaranteed him a
total of over 14 years in the far east. This made it possible to study
many styles in different countries even though it meant not going home
for years at a time. These tours included Okinawa, Japan, Philippines,
Thailand, Taiwan and Korea.
Training under famous and skilled masters while in these countries,
past teachers are Grand Master Chom Son Cho-(th Dan Kuk Ki Won and
World Tae Kwon Do Federation. G.M. Cho is a retired police detective
in Kunsan, Korea. A world class champion undefeated captain of the
Korean National Team with over 250 undefeated championships from
1956-1966 and had befriended and given Peter Lee years of private
lessons and personal attention. Grand Master Kim was whom with he
mastered the art of side stepping.
At about the same time he trained with hapkido masters Oh and master
Yi in Kunsan Korea after Tae Kwon Do classes. Grand Master Dong Kuen
Park, 8th Dan Kuk Ki Won(WTF) Korean Hall of Fame unbeaten Korean
National Champion for 6 years in over 200 matches. He had given
lessons to Peter Lee while stationed in Takli and Korat Thailand. Anka
Takahashi a Zen Buddhist monk in Sendi Japan 8th Dan in Shoto-Kan and
jiu-jitsu, had inspired Peter Lee to continue his training and had
added different aspects to his martial arts training.
In one of the many military combat jumps a parachuting accident in
Vietnam left him hospitalized for 2 years. After surgery it was
difficult to walk or move about without agonizing back pain. Setting
goals that would overcome his injuries using martial arts discipline,
positive attitudes and high spirits recovery was slowly made.
In 1978 he was forcefully retired and on the disability roll, at 36 he
opened the present martial art's school Peter Lee's America's Best in
Daytona Beach Florida. In 1980 at the age of 38 ranked 2nd place in
the AAU Tae Kwon Do Nationals. In June of 1990 he tested and passed
his 7th Dan Black Belt in front of a panel of board certified members
of 8th and 9th Dan Grand Masters. A certified continental referee in
1984 formulated and annual tae kwon do championship beachside called
the Battle of Daytona. In April of 1991 this event attracted over 550
competitors and over 2000 spectators. He has taught over 6,000
students and graduated hundreds of Black Belts with international
certification. Past graduated students are teaching as far as Trinidad
