I just picked up a 'bargain bin' CD (love those bargain bins!), "Boogie in
the City" by Dave Taylor, formerly of the Hellraisers. It's 'boogie-woogie'
style piano; pretty cool!! The Hellraisers were a rockabilly band out of
England, circa mid - 70's. Now I'm trying to find out more about them, but
not having much luck. All I've managed to find so far are a couple of links
referring to other releases. Anyone have any info?

Just a little bit. They were a revival band, covering the usual
classics.
Regarding line up I know that Graham Fenton (of Matchbox fame) was (at
one time) the singer other members were Tommy Huskey, Alan Harris,
Morris King, Terry Clemson. But as is the case with many bands at that
time line-up changed. I have one album from them called Remember When,
where they do songs like Oh Carol, Peggy Sue, Shakin' All Over etc.
Not the best record in my collection. And no boogie woogie
whatsoever.
And a live record where they do 4 songs recorded in '76 in London. the
line up there is Graham Fenton, Dave Taylor, Terry Clemson, Paul
Oldnall and John Hollywood.

That's all I know about the Hellraisers. Dave Taylor did some great
things and was the first as far as I know to use a big band (way back
in the early 80's) combined with rock 'n roll. Boogie in the City is
IMHO not his best, but still very good. Dave Taylor did his first solo
recording with Little Tina and Flight 56. He sang one number I believe
it was Twelve o'clock rock, but I'm not sure. Later on he moved to
Finland and kept on making great rockin' big band music and boogie
woogie music. His hobby is sky diving. He used to have a great
webiste, but it's now defunct.

Hope this helps a bit

Yes, thanks! It's hard to find _anything_ about them on the net. I'm really
enjoying the CD; I'd like to hear some of his other stuff. I like your
site, BTW!
