In Rage against the machine's album "Evil Empire", they sing about Tom
Jones:

"I'm Just sitting around the camp fire light in search for the ghost of Tom
Jones." That is one of the lines from that song.

What is this song about? Who is Tom Jones?

It's The Ghost of Tom Joad and it was originally done by Bruce
Springstine. It wasn't on Evil Empire, it was released as a bonus single
with the RATM home video. It's mainly about homelessness, although it
talks about police brutality and things of that sort.

Oh ya, I almost forgot an important fact. Tom Joad is from Steinbeck's
novel, "The Grapes of Wrath" After the dust storms, he and his family
are forced to move west to look for work.

The song titled "Tom Joad" is a cover of a Bruce Springsteen song that is
from a soundtrack of some movie about an immigrant named Tom Joad (I think
it takes place in the old west) who kills a cop for beating his teacher and
is executed. By the way, it isn't on "Evil Empire" it was released as a
single and comes with the home video
