Who are the best? Allow me to begin yet another meaningless list:

(in order)

1. Thom Yorke
2. Brett Anderson
3. Norman, Gerry and Ray from Teenage Fanclub (just like honey)
4. Jarvis Cocker
5. Crispin Hunt (head Longpig)
6. Fran Healy (he sounds not unlike Mr Yorke)
7. Andrew Montgomery (Geneva)
8. Sice (Boo!)
9. James Dean Bradfield
10. Liam Gallagher (He's a bloody idiot but he can sing like a bastard)

I hope this incites a riot.

Cheers

Gordon Bennett

Yeah. He belts out the songs something amazing. You just *have* to listen
to him. Even if at the end of it you decide it's crap. Blame Noel for
that. And it's only been recently that they've gone quite SO crap. The
first album is quite listenable, when they were rock and roll rather
than trying to be rock and roll.

And this is coming from someone who really hates their recent stuff, so
don't think I'm biased by fandom :)

One brilliant British singer is James Mudrazki with Puressence. The music
is reminiscent of The Chameleons, but if you're not familiar with them,
somewhere between Radiohead and The Cure (or how The Cure used to sound).
James' voice can be very high and fragile, but can also turn savage. The
first time I heard his voice I thought it was a woman, but he really has a
huge range.

True. there are some great moments on DM - Slide Away, Fags & Booze,
Married With Children etc etc... by WTSMG? the egos had started to
inflate. There are still good songs on it, Cast No Shadow & Morning
Glory being examples, but they were slowly slipping... BHN is
unadulterated shite. With the exception of My Big Mouth, which I love.

I thought Oasis were one of the best things in british music when DM got
NME album of the year and all that, I DM still stands up as a great
album. I hope Oasis split now, and reform and make better records, a la
The Verve [that is debatable tho] or make a damn fine record *soon* i.e
this millenium, Mr N Gallagher.

They are saying that they wont come back for anouther 2 years (ala 2000)
which could be a good thing, it gives them a chance to look back, have
a break, live a little and write at the same time. Their next album could
be their best ever....

Theres a good gap between MG & BHN, and BHN is a wet fish.

It seems like it was rushed though..... Maybe they lived a little TOO much :)
