there is a talking email that sort of sounds like it. You can download the
trial version of it at http://www.4developers.com
Just type something in your word processing program, highlight the text and
copy it, then open the program and click "clipboard".

It's a Macintosh,
It's great
If you own one, you'll already have the software on your computer, just
use simpletext.

If you are using an SM-DOS or SW-Windozer,

actually

I can't be bothered,

Back in the days of DOS i used to have a program on my computer that came
with my sound card software... it was by creative labs, and the program was
called Dr. Sbaitso... it was a fake psychatrist but also it could say what
you wanted it to in the same voice as on fitter happier

Anyone who had a Commodare Amiga 500, back in the late eighties / early
ninties, may remember a program built into the Operating System, which
produced the same voice. If you got an amiga emulator, and this program, you
could make to same voice, if you want to go to all the effort........

Creative Labs have a program valled "Text assist" which sounds pretty much
exactly like the FItter Happier guy on the album. I dunno if you can still
get it; it comes with the standard edition soundblaster 16.

Sorry, I didn't catch the original message here, so I don't know if you're
on a PC or a Mac. If it's the latter, all you need to do is enable the
speech ability built in to system 7.5 (and higher) by making sure the
"Speech" control panel is on and the "Speech Manager" extension is loaded
at startup. I can't say for sure, but it certainly sounds like the voice on
OKC is produced on a Mac. A friend and I at work often times type in bits
and pieces of "fitter, happier" in Simpletext and have the computer speak
it.

I do not own a Mac, but Thom Yorke does, he is a Mac fan, and that is the
computer talking on "Fitter Happier"

oui.

but, in truth, computer voice sounds much the same on a PC. i used to have a
talking dictionary back a few years ago (before i learned of my beloved RH)
and it used to speak in the same voice. amazingly enough, it comes out
sounding....computerized. :)

There is a program called Willotalk.
It is basically the SB16 talker in a different wrapping and is free.
Cannot be bothered to look it up but Altavista it by all means..

I hear fitter happier and i think of stephen hawking. He cannot talk and so uses a
computer program to talk and I seem to always consider that particular computer voice
(not just a drone but with inflections) stephen hawking's voice.

To tell you the truth, if you adjust the Computer Voice in ?PowWow 3.7?? you
can come up with a very similar effect on the PC.

The effect is TextEdit on a Mac.
In TextEdit choose Edit > Speech > Start Speaking
To get the voice correct. Go to System Settings > Accessibility > Spoken Content > System Voice and choose Fred.

Fred is OK Computer
