"We hope that you choke" is the last line of "Exit Music". Whether it
means something besides Romeo and Juliet's final thoughts is anybody's
guess. I've always interpreted the "1=2" as a paranoid example of what
may happen in a world where technology is so powerful it controls our
lives; it creates reality. The "1=2" analogy may have even be used in
"1984," but I can't remember.
18576397? I don't know-- just digital imagery? A secret phone number? A
UPC code? You know, some say the UPC symbol is the Mark of the Beast
prophesied in Revelations. I'm not one of them, mind you.

the example used in 1984 was of trying to make winston doublethink that
2+2=5.
as if thats relevant at all.

Like I said, I didn't remember. I read it over the summer in ninth grade.
The principle is the same, though.

"Well, in Britain, there are a lot of winding country lanes," continues
Yorke. "One New Year's Eve, I was walking home, and there was no
artificial light anywhere, no light except the stars. And the wind was
blowing very very hard. And I was absolutely convinced that I was being
followed. So that feeling inspired the song. And if you look at the
artwork for the album, there are always two figures, never just one."
(from addicted to noise).

What about the figure on the front cover, hovering over the superhighway?
Eh??? :)

I reckon that it means "try and compute that, you wee electronic piece of
SH*T" Just my own opinion, of course

i'm sure there's some kind of maths thing where some guy has said it is
possible that 1=2. that's vague

It's possible to do it by dividing by zero at some point, but not drawing
attention to it. An example of how people can be easily fooled by a
medium whose rules they don't fully understand. A bit like party
politics, I suppose :)
