Have any joint Radiohead/classical fans noticed the melodic similarity (exact,
actually) between the Paranoid Android bridge ("from a great height....") and
Mendelssohn's Hebrides Overture?
Probably not.
But it was gnawing at me, listening to the Mendelssohn for the first time,
knowing those notes but not being able to place them. And then...
"from a great height...." Ahhh.

i tried to listen for it.. but i just can't... i have lucky playing over
and over in my head and i can't get rid of it!!!
but very possibly there are similarities between radiohead and a number of
classical composers.. i mean : why not??

Well, since Sexy Sadie was written for the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the Karma
thing might fit in. And there are some direct references in the lyrics, too.
Some of the most obvious ones:
"You broke the rules, you laid it down for all to see"
vs. "Arrest this girl, her hitler hairdo is making me feel ill"
"You'll get yours yet"
vs. "This is what you get" and "We have crashed her party"
However, I'm not sure if these similarities are coincidental. On the other
hand, I believe that nothing in this world happens on coincidence, so either
Thom wanted to comment on Sexy Sadie, or some divine power did. Or both.
Maybe Lennon's spirit is still among us. Possibly in Thom. Who knows?
